Indian food is one of our favorites at our house. We got hooked a few years ago when our friends introduced us to a local restaurant who has the BEST Indian food. I love the melt in your mouth chicken that is drowning in a delicious and flavorful butter sauce. I couldn’t wait to try Patak’s®, Quick & Easy, Indian Food Butter Chicken with my family. You can take a tour of India without ever leaving your kitchen. There is so much authentic flavor packed into this jar. It has such delicious spices and quality that you can bring restaurant quality taste to your family.

This recipe is ready in under 30 minutes. You start by browning the chicken and once that is ready, you just pour the sauce in and let it simmer. That is all it takes! Easy Peasy!

What is in butter chicken?

The spices may include garam masala, ginger, garlic, lemon or lime, pepper, coriander, cumin, turmeric, and chili. The chicken is usually cooked in a tandoor (traditional clay oven), but can also be grilled, roasted, or pan-fried. It is served in a mild curry sauce that includes butter. My family loved the sauce so much that they licked their plates clean. The flavor is incredible and it tastes straight out of a restaurant. The spices are perfect and it is wonderful served over basmati rice. We also love to eat it with naan.

You will love this meal just as much as we did!

Love butter chicken even though I can’t do spicy sauce at all. I cook my chicken breasts in the oven because I cook extra for my fur-baby. After I chop the pieces I want then I just add the chicken breast to the frying pan. Add the amount of sauce I want and just heat up enough until hot. Then serve on the amount of rice I want. I only use instant rice, not a fan of basmati is all. I will have to try it with Naan bread one day. I used to buy precooked frozen butter chicken but it’s not the same as homemade! I have purchased it before from a restaurant but didn’t like they used chicken thighs instead of breast meat.

Now I do add extra Green Onions as a garnish afterwards and that just takes the meal over the top. Thanks for sharing your easy recipe Alyssa. Yummy 😋 Hopefully you can share a recipe for Vegan butter chicken too, please!

I made this butter chicken for the whole family. They loved it so much!!!!! Thankyou Alyssa Rivers for making this blog and website. 10/10. would it work to make this butter chicken into a burrito? I would recommend this recipe to every starter chef or just want a easy way to cook a hard meal.

    1. Yes! This is great in a crockpot/slow cooker. Simply add the chicken and all the ingredients and slow cook for 4 to 6 hours until your chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees and is tender and juicy. You will want to cook on low to make sure that it does not over cook.

  3. I made this last night it was delicious. Easy peasey I added raisins & nuts to it with basmati rice. You will be hooked – love it.

  4. This looks delicious. I need a new easy mid-week dinner recipe so I’m going to make this butter chicken. I know my whole family will enjoy it. It looks so tasty.

  5. I haven’t tried the Butter chicken sauce but I’m a big fam of the Curry Paste. I do make butter chicken from scratch, but I’ll have to give this s try.
