This easy and comforting philly cheese steak sloppy Joe is made in less than 30 minutes and instantly became a family favorite. The flavor combination and melted cheese makes these sloppy joes irresistible!
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat. Add 1 pound ground beef and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Season the meat with salt and pepper to taste.
Add 1 medium chopped onion and 1 medium chopped green bell pepper . Cook for about 3-4 minutes until they start to become tender. Drain all excess liquid.
In a small bowl, whisk together 1 tablespoon water and 1 tablespoon cornstarch. Stir in the cornstarch mixture, 1 cup beef broth, and ¼ cup steak sauce, then bring the mixture to a boil. Continue cooking until sauce is thick and bubbly.
While the meat mixture cooks, prepare 4 hamburger buns by splitting them in half. Butter and toast each side of the buns if desired. This step is optional!
Once the meat mixture has thickened, add 4 slices provolone cheese in an even layer on the top and let it melt.
Spoon the meat and cheese mixture on top of each bottom bun. Place the top bun on each sandwich and enjoy!
