Cook the pasta according to package directions and drain.
In a large sauce pan, add 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 small diced onion, and 3 cloves minced garlic. Cook over medium heat until tender.
Pour in ½ cup vodka* and simmer until reduced.
Pour in 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce, 1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained, and 1 cup heavy cream. Simmer until it starts to thicken.
Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and stir until coated. Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with chopped basil, parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes .
