  • 2 (12 ounce) bags fresh string beans (green beans) ends trimmed
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)

  1. Boil a salted pot of water for the beans and also prepare a large bowl of cold water with ice cubes. Trim the ends of the beans.

  2. Once the water is boiling, add the string beans and cook them for 2-3 minutes. Drain them and add them to the bowl of ice water so they stop cooking (this process is called blanching).

  3. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once the butter is sizzling, stir in the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds.

  4. Drain the beans and add them to the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes, tossing/stirring often, or until the beans are as tender as you like.

  5. Season beans with salt & pepper as needed. Serve immediately.
