Start by adding your 3 cups dried beans, to a container and filling with water until the beans are covered. Soak the beans for 12 hours or overnight.
Rinse the beans and place them into a large pot. Fill with water until completely submerged and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for one hour or until the beans are tender. Drain the beans and rinse them, then return them to the pot
In a medium saucepan, add the ½ pound chopped bacon and cook until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon. Add the 1 chopped green bell pepper and 1 chopped white onion to the saucepan and cook until tender.
Add the bacon, onion, and green pepper to the large pot with the beans. Add in the 2 cups ketchup,1 cup brown sugar, ¼ cup molasses, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, and ½ cup water. Mix and add more water if needed.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fharenheit. Add the beans to a 9x13-inch dish, cover with foil, and bake for 2 hours. Remove the foil the last 30 minutes.
