In a pot with a steamer basket, bring a few inches of water to boil and steam the 4 cups broccoli florets, for 4-5 minutes. It should be tender but still firm. Remove from the steamer basket and set aside.
In a large skillet, over medium-high heat, saute 1 pound lean ground beef and ½ yellow onion, together until the beef is fully browned. Add in salt and pepper,2 cloves garlic, and sauté another minute. Reduce the heat to medium-low.
While the beef and onion are cooking, in a small bowl whisk together the ½ cup beef broth, ⅓ cup soy sauce, ¼ cup packed brown sugar, 2 teaspoons sesame oil, 1 clove garlic,1 teaspoon ground ginger, and 1 tablespoon cornstarch.
Add the steamed broccoli to the skillet and pour the sauce over everything. Stir everything together, sauteing until the sauce thickens and coats everything completely.
Serve over steamed rice with sliced green onions and enjoy!
