Let 1 pound ribeye steak rest for 30 minutes to come to room temperature. salt and pepper to taste.
In a medium-sized skillet over medium-high heat 2 tablespoons olive oil. Once it starts to smoke add the steak to the skillet. Sear all sides of the steak until it has a golden-brown crust.
Add ½ cup unsalted butter to the skillet and melt. Add 8 whole garlic cloves and fresh rosemary and thyme sprigs.
