Thai basil beef is simple and delicious! It's made with a homemade Thai sauce that has a bold and brilliant flavor and can be thrown together in less than 30 minutes. It is SOO GOOD!
2tablespoonsAsian garlic chili pastemore or less to taste, for heat
½cuplow sodium beef broth
¼cupwater
1teaspooncornstarch
1cupbasil leaves*
cooked jasmine ricefor serving
Instructions
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, 2 thinly sliced shallots, 7 cloves sliced garlic, 1 tablespoon fresh minced ginger, and ½ thinly sliced red bell pepper. Stir-fry for 3 minutes.
Push the veggies off to the side. Turn the heat to high and add 1 pound lean ground beef. Cook until no longer pink, about 7-8 minutes.
In a small bowl, whisk together 2 teaspoons brown sugar, 2 tablespoons fish sauce, 6 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce, 3 teaspoons oyster sauce, 2 tablespoons Asian garlic chili paste, ½ cup low sodium beef broth, ¼ cup water, and 1 teaspoon cornstarch.
Pour the sauce over the cooked beef. Stir and cook for 2 minutes.
Add 1 cup basil leaves*, and stir-fry until wilted.
Serve over cooked jasmine rice and enjoy!
Notes
