These Scalloped Potatoes and Ham are the perfect make ahead holiday dinner but they're just as good for leftovers, too! Super creamy, cheesy and comforting.

  • 8 medium red potatoes about 2 1/2-3lb, very thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cooked chopped ham
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups 2% milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese divided

  1. Layer potatoes and ham in a lightly greased 9x13" baking dish and preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter.
  3. Add garlic, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper -- cook and stir 1 minute.
  4. Whisk in flour until smooth, then gradually whisk in the milk and cream.
  5. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened, 3-4 minutes. Stir in 1 cup of cheese.
  6. Pour sauce over potatoes and ham. Cover with foil and bake for 60-65 minutes, until potatoes are tender.
  7. Uncover, sprinkle with remaining 1 cup cheese, and bake 10 minutes or until thickened, bubbly, and cheese is lightly browned.
  8. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
