Easiest Homemade Marinara Sauce

Ingredients

olive oil

diced yellow onion

cans stewed tomatoes

can tomato paste

Italian seasoning

cloves
minced garlic

salt
¼
teaspoon
black pepper

teaspoons
granulated sugar
or more to taste
½
cup
chicken broth or water
Instructions
In a medium-sized
saucepan
over medium-high heat, add
2 tablespoons olive oil
and
1 small diced yellow onion
. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until tender.
In a
food processor
or
blender,
add
2 (15-ounce) cans stewed tomatoes
,
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
,
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
,
3 cloves minced garlic
,
1 teaspoon salt
,
¼ teaspoon black pepper
, and
2 teaspoons granulated sugar
.
Pulse until smooth.
Add the blended mixture to the onions in the
saucepan
and add
½ cup chicken broth or water
. Sauté for 10 minutes to let the flavors blend.
