I always have a requirement when I cook pasta for my family. It has to be creamy and delicious and coat the pasta perfectly. In our house,  we have to have enough pasta and sauce ratio. I have perfected the creamy sauce recipe and you won’t believe how yummy it is! It has Mexican spices and it is the perfect topping on this pork carnitas and pasta.

How do I make creamy pork carnitas pasta?

You start by preparing your fresh pork. I chose to slow cook the Smithfield Seasoned Carnitas, but you can also saute, grill, or roast Marinated Fresh Pork Products. Once your carnitas is finished, you saute the peppers until tender and remove them and set aside on a plate. You then prepare the creamy sauce and let it simmer until it starts to thicken. Add the pasta and carnitas to the pan and toss until heated. This is also great served with your favorite toppings. Tomatoes, chopped avocado, cilantro, all work great.

I just foudn this while searching for recipe to use up heavy cream. My husband had just smoked a pork shoulder the night before so this was an easy choice. We found the sauce to be a little bland so we added about a teaspoon of garlic salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Like another reviewer mentioned, adding a shallot to the sautee would be great. As for toppings, we used the suggested tomatoes and avocadoes, then subbed green onions for cilantro. I doused mine in Tobasco and it was fantastic! Next time, I’ll downsize the pasta to 6oz to make the veg/meat : starch ratio a little higher. Overall this was a great base to work with. Thank you for posting it!

Cream base is great, but I generally found the recipe to be woefully under seasoned. I doubled the amount of spices and added 2 tsp of seasoned salt and 1 tsp of garlic powder. Next time I think I’ll add a shallot or two when I sautee the peppers.

This recipe is easily adaptable! I added some chopped mushrooms, asparagus and spinach to the peppers for extra veggies:). Also, only had a little bit of sour cream but I did have some cream cheese so I added that to use up what was in my fridge!! I had made carnitas from scratch a few days before so I used those leftovers. It was a great way to repurpose those carnitas!! Thanks for the great and easy recipe!!!

I just made this with some pre-cooked Carnitas that I got at Costco that was a bit dry. I just did shallot and garlic. No bell peppers. The rest of the recipe the same. Garnished with some tomato at the end. This was so very good!!!! Thank you for this recipe!!! Will definitely make this again. Would also be good with chicken!!!!

    6. Since my retirement I’ve made a few of your recipes and not a bum in the lot. [the lemon garlic shrimp and pasta is outrageously good] One item I’m unable to locate on your website is nutrition information. Is there someplace special that I’m missing?

      1. I like to use myfitnesspal.com or skinny taste.com for any nutritional information. Hope that helps you find the information you are looking for.

    7. Alyssa, I have not seen the Smithfield Pork Shoulder Seasoned Carnitas i in my area. Could you tell me what I would need to do to turn a pork shoulder into these?

      1. OH bummer! You are welcome to try adding the seasonings onto the pork shoulder that you have in your area.
