Did you know that you can cook almost anything in a rice cooker? Well I didn’t. I am all about easy and this my friends is almost too easy! You throw everything in and turn the rice cooker on and set it and forget it! (Isn’t that an infomercial? Haha) ย It is delicious!! Flavor is awesome and rice is cooked perfectly. It makes a great side to any meal!

Things that I changed: I didn’t add the onion or bacon. So I skipped the part of cooking the onion and bacon in the oil before adding the rice. I did add Spam to my rice though. (I never have used Spam until my sister in law made her delicious fried rice. It is so good!)
Things that I would do differently next time: Nothing

  1. I have two questions about this recipe:

    1. how many servings will this make? and
    2. can I use brown rice, and if so, what adjustments, if any, do I need to make to this?

    Thank you.

    1. OH, you will love this rice! It makes about 6 to 8 servings. You are welcome to use brown rice. There would not be any adjustments since your rice cooker will do the work for you;)! Hope you enjoy! XOXO

  2. Fir rice to ge cooked in the rice cooker the ratios fir white rice is 2 to 1, being 2 cups of liquid to 1 cup of raw rice. This recipe will produce raw, dry rice. Add the extra broth and let the rice take its time to soak in the ingredients. A better rice!

    1. Iโ€™m sorry I have to disagree with you. It is one cup of rice to one cup (or ever so slightly more) liquid. My Mother always just measured the liquid being up to the thumb knuckle over the rice. Asians deplore gluggy rice and I should know, Iโ€™m Chinese and living in Asia ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. There should be a cook setting on your rice cooker and it will cook until it is done. Usually takes about 20-30 minutes.

  3. Great recipe! Made it for dinner and added 2 raw/whisked eggs on top with spring onion when nearly done with the soy sauce on top and let sit till ready to serve. Was awesome ๐Ÿ™‚ I could eat it as a meal itself instead of a side!

  4. Just tried this last night for make ahead school lunches. It was a little dry straight out of the rice cooker, so I just stirred in some more beef stock. I also added some scrambled eggs at the end. SO good!!

  5. Awesome Recipe! Although it may be helpful to readers who attempt the recipe to clarify whether the rice is cooked or uncooked when you put it in the cooker. I wasn’t sure and although it’s kinda obvious, I’d like to think I’m not the only one who missed that. :p
