This pork is a combination of sweet and spicy and the pork just shreds apart and melts in your mouth!
When I was growing up we didn’t have soda or caffeine in our house. I am sure I just made all of the Diet Coke addicts gasp! ๐ So still to this day I will take a lemonade or water any day over soda. Soda just doesn’t quench your thirst and makes your throat burn and your eyes water. And maybe because I didn’t grow up on it I am just not used to it. My hubby on the other hand has Coca Cola running in his veins. When I would drink a soda, it would be Dr Pepper every time! It definitely is my favorite. I was excited to try out using Dr Pepper in the slow cooker.
I use Coca Cola in my cafe rio pulled pork. There is something about it that makes the pork just peel apart and cook so tenderly. I figured that I would get the same result with Dr Pepper.
The great thing about this recipe is you can throw it into your slow cooker in 5 minutes. It slow cooks all day and was literally falling apart as I was trying to get it out to shred it. The chipotle gives it a kick while the brown sugar and Dr Pepper gives it the sweet balance. This is an easy and delicious dinner that you can top with all of your favorite toppings!

OK… just opened this can of chipotle peppers in adobe sauce… this stuff is HOT!!! I’m kind of scared to put this in my crock pot… how can I make this chipotle seasoning without it? You think I can omit the peppers in the sauce and dump the leftover sauce in, without being too hot? Gosh, I have a 9yo, 5yo and 19mo old eating this with us lol, not sure how to make this work now that I’m ready to put this in the crock!
Yes a little chipotle pepper goes A LONG way! Haha I would just add less to it if you are worried about the heat with kids. ๐
Just made this tonight and was delicious!!! We used pork chops, and i’m not a fan of ‘pulled’ texture so just had big pieces of the pork with onions and peppers on crusty hot french rolls. it was sooooo good!
The juice left over is so good, wondering is there anything i could do with it instead of throw it out? make bbq sauce?
Is it ok to use pork leg roast?
I am cooking this now, looks really good! I changed it a bit and added green peppers and chipotle seasoning since I couldn’t find the peppers in the recipe! Looking forward to dinner!
This sounds amazing. I love me some DR Pepper and I love me some pork so this together is a no brainer
These look super good.
This looks Amazing! Do you think it would be okay to use a beef roast?
Yep I am sure beef would work just as well! ๐
This will easily become my boyfriends favorite recipe.
