I make this salad all the time for my school potlucks. The teachers love it. I’ve used chopped kale every time and store bought poppy seed salad dressing with great success. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

  2. Hi! I am excited to make this for thanksgiving and had a question: Does cider vinegar mean apple cider vinegar?

My husband said it was the best salad ever. I did “cheat” for the sake of time, and just bought the Kraft Creamy Poppyseed dressing. I’m sure that the homemade would taste even better, but we loved it nonetheless.

  4. I have to tell you, I come back to this recipe over and over, its so good and one of the only salads I can actually get my husband to eat!

I’ve made this salad several times as it’s requested often. The last time I made it, there was a recall on romaine lettuce so I used baby kale which was a nice hearty substitute. I use Trader Joe’s glazed pecans as a shortcut and serve bacon on the side to satisfy vegetarians. This is a wonderful salad any season.

Doubled the recipe, but only needed 2/3 of the dressing. Brought to neighborhood potluck and received rave reviews. Tossed pears and apples in lemon juice to keep them from getting brown before tossing with dressing at last minute. Will definitely make again.

What a terrific salad! My family loved it. I used cheddar cheese instead of feta since that is what I had on hand. I served the salad for lunch with pumpkin cornbread, and it definitely felt like fall. Thanks so much.

How can this awesomeness have so few reviews. This salad is amazing exactly as written. I make it all fall and winter, as soon as pears are in the store. I’ve since started eating vegetarian so just leave it the bacon. Like everything, it’s better with bacon but it’s still delicious without. Thanks for a great recipe!
