Confession—I’ve always been obsessed with McDonald’s Big Macs. My copycat McDonald’s Big Mac sauce tastes just like the real thing, maybe even better. I slather it on burgers and dip my fries in it. You have to try it!

What Makes This Sauce a Winner

  • True Flavor: I’ve seen a lot of Big Mac sauce recipes with ketchup, mustard, and minced onions—but that’s not how McDonald’s makes it. My version stays true to the original, so you can make the real deal at home!
  • Homemade Heaven: With homemade sauce, you’re in control—and I say the more, the better. I love my burgers dripping with that rich, creamy, tangy goodness. Every bite should be messy and totally worth it.
  • Quick and Easy: You can have this ready to go in just 5 minutes!

  • Relish: You can use dill pickle relish instead of sweet, but you may want to add 1/2-1 teaspoon sugar to balance out the tanginess.
  • Paprika: If you want a smoky flavor, swap the regular paprika spice for smoked paprika.

How to Make Copycat Big Mac Sauce

Grab your ingredients and let’s whip up a tasty batch of this copycat recipe sauce. Simply stir everything together and adjust all the flavors to taste!

  1. Combine Ingredients: Add the mayonnaise, relish, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and turmeric to a medium bowl, then whisk to combine.
  2. Whisk: If you like your Big Mac sauce a little sweeter, add ½-1 teaspoon of granulated sugar, or to taste, and whisk until combined. Makes about ⅔ cup.

Is Big Mac Sauce the same as Thousand Island Dressing?

They’re similar, but Big Mac sauce and Thousand Island have different ratios, and Thousand Island uses ketchup and diced onions, which Big Mac sauce doesn’t. Both are tasty!

How to Make Ahead and Store Leftovers

I like to double this Big Mac sauce recipe to use for the week! It’s a great condiment to have in the refrigerator. It’s easy to make and have on hand.

  • In the Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container or a jar with a lid. Keep in the refrigerator for 5-7 days. I like to stir the sauce before reusing it because the relish can release additional liquid as it is stored.
  • Make Ahead: Letting the sauce sit in the fridge for 24 hours will let the flavor develop before serving it. It’s not necessary, though!
