Korean Ground Beef and Rice Bowls
This right here is my boys favorite weeknight meal. They beg me to make it every week. Since we have been so busy with Lacrosse we have been having it every week. It requires minimal ingredients and requires little effort to make.
Easy, minimal ingredients, and my kids devour it. This meal became my new BFF.
The ground beef takes only minutes to brown but you still get that delicious Korean flavor in this meal. The brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger combination is the best.
It helps take the flavor to next level with the simple kitchen ingredients. The best part is that because we love Asian flavors so much I always have these ingredients on hand. All I have to do is buy a pound of ground beef each week.
You guys are going to love this meal just as much as we do! It is so delicious when served over rice and I even like to add some veggies to my bowl to make it a well rounded meal.
Sprinkle with some sesame seeds and freshly chopped green onions and you have about the easiest meal that you will ever make! You will make this again and again!

Made this last night because I happened to have all of the ingredients in the house already. Absolutely delicious! I will definitely make this again.
So glad you liked it and even better that you already had all of the ingredients, perfect! Here is another one of my favorites that’s super easy and uses similar ingredients, it’s my Korean ground beef stir fry. Its very similar, but you get to throw in some veggies! Use whatever you have! Let me know what you think!
Excellent – we made this for supper, added matchstick carrot ,onion & medium diced mushrooms and finely chipped Boc Choi. For the sauce I made it exactly as published but added 2 tablespoons of water & 2 1/2 tsp of corn starch.
When the meat was 85% cooked I added the veggies an stir fried for about 30 seconds, then added the sauce. You might want to place a lid on the meat /veg pot. Then continued till meat was fully cooked & sauce thickened I used high heat. Will make this easy & fast dish again.
This was SOOOOOOOOOO sweet. Equal parts PACKED brown sugar and soy sauce proved way too sweet for my whole family, kids included. I could barely taste the soy sauce or toasted sesame oil. I would HALVE the sugar, easily. I feel like I ruined a meal. =(
The only thing I can think of that happened is that you didn’t measure the ingredients properly. 1/4 cup wet measurement and 1/4 dry measurement are not the same thing (just an example). The brown sugar should be dry measure. I’ve been making this recipe for like 3+ years, it’s a family favorite, and I’ve never had that issue. Hope you try it again and it goes better ๐
I have made this dish several times, but lately my family said it was a little Blan. I didnโt do anything different than usual. We donโt do the red pepper flakes and I use purรฉed ginger instead of powder. What else can I do to increase the flavor?
Thanks for the comment! To add more flavor you could use more ginger and garlic. You also might need to add more salt and pepper to enhance all of the other flavors. I hope this helps!
Delicious! Didnโt have any scallions, but I served it with some fresh cut lettuce to make lettuce wraps. Worked great!
I tried this just now, and I usually dont like meat cooked this way without veggies but my god this was good! Thanks for sharingโฆ

Quick, easy and flavorful. What more can you ask for?
I did bump up the red pepper flakes a bit for a little more heat. And don’t be scared to add more green onions than you think. The little bit of crunch and texture contrast is welcome with the fluffy rice and saucy beef.
I add peas to it! Wonderful!
We all loved it last night, it was great.
I was sick of the same ground beef recipes in my rotation so I started making this about a year ago. My toddlers both love it 2 and 3 yrs old (even with the crushed pepper in it) Itโs so good and even faster and cheaper than making tacos! Super filling even if you eat a little. We love this recipe! Thanks so much.
This was quite good. I might increase the sauce part a bit next time and by so doing, also add a bit of cornstarch to thicken it. Very tasty, very easy and very quick. Thank you for the recipe.
This is EXACTLY what I just did. Iโm a sauce girl ๐
This is a delicious recipe. My adult son and I love to share this dish. Sometimes I will throw in some vegetables and stir fry with the meat. Thank you for this recipe.
A family favorite in our house! Highly recommend. Perfect level of spicy. We do add a few veggies to add more texture. Just delicious!
This is so incredibly easy and so delicious. It came together in less than 20 minutes and my husband loved it. I was surprised at how the sauce really penetrated the ground beef and made it flavorful all the way through. I made it last night with ground beef and am making it again tonight with ground venison. Definitely recommend using the reduced-sodium soy sauce as I used regular last night and it was just a touch salty. Otherwise, amazing recipe.
This is so gangster. Our five year old little girl loves it, too. We use ground turkey and you canโt tell much of a difference honestly (the only thing you miss is the grease).
This was so easy to make and so delicious! I was hesitant as I’m not crazy about ground beef, but this was really tasty. We’ll definitely try with chicken!
Absolutely delicious! I doubled the recipe & made this for my family for dinner, with enough leftover to meal prep my lunches throughout the week. I made it with fresh minced ginger which I cooked with the ground beef mixture, but Iโm sure the ground ginger is delicious too. Itโs so tasty on rice and on cauliflower rice! Thank you for this fast & easy recipe!
