5 Minute Million Dollar Dip Recipe

Can I just say how much I love my readers and fans? I hope you know how much I appreciate all of your amazing comments and support in keeping this blog going. I especially love when readers send me messages and recipes that they want me to try. This recipe was sent to me from a reader telling me that I have to try it!  With it being only 5 ingredients and taking 5 minutes to make, I couldn’t wait to make it!

This dip has mayonnaise, green onions, cheddar cheese, and bacon bits. If you are looking to substitute the mayonnaise you can use greek yogurt, or even sour cream, but the mayonnaise is a key ingredient in bringing this dip all together. I loved all of the ingredients in this dip and the slivered almonds were my favorite part! They added the perfect crunch to this dip.  It is a MUST make for your next watch party or gathering. Everyone won’t be able to get enough of it! You will quickly see why it is called a Million Dollar Dip!

Ingredients for Million Dollar Dip

With just a few simple ingredients you can create some major deliciousness!

  • Green Onions: Their mild taste and crunchy texture are perfect in this dip!
  • Cheddar Cheese: For the best results, use freshly shredded cheese.  Shredded cheese in a bag won’t mix as well with this dip and the flavor isn’t as bright.
  • Mayonnaise: Use your favorite brand since this is the base of the entire dip.
  • Real Bacon Bits: Pre-cooked bacon works great and adds to the ease of prep for this already easy dip.
  • Slivered Almonds: These slivered almonds give the dip a nutty flavor without overwhelming each bite.

How to Make Million Dollar Dip

This dip honestly tastes so good, your friends and family will think it took a lot more effort to put together. Little do they know it only takes 2 quick steps to create!

  1. Mix Together Ingredients: Add green onions, cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, bacon bits, and slivered almonds to a small bowl. Mix until fully combined.
  2. Chill and Enjoy: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Serve with your favorite crackers.

Million Dollar Dip Quick Tips

Upgrade your dip with just a few quick and easy tips!

  • Cheese: Freshly shredded cheddar works best in this recipe. Packaged cheese typically lacks the flavor and texture that fresh cheese has. You can substitute cheddar for aged Gouda or Gruyere.
  • Mayonnaise: You can substitute mayo for sour cream or Greek yogurt, but I have found that mayonnaise works best to achieve a perfectly creamy texture.
  • Almonds: You can chop your almonds into smaller pieces for bite-sized texture.
  • Flavor Additions: Add in garlic, homemade ranch or Italian seasoning for an extra burst of flavor in your dip!

What to Serve With 5 Minute Million Dollar Dip

I love using bigger crackers like Ritz for this dip, but it also tastes amazing with tortilla chips and pretzels! Kettle chips are also a great pairing with their thicker texture and bite. You can make some of my quick and easy air fryer potato chips for a snack match made in heaven!

Storing Million Dollar Dip

Storing dips is just as easy as making them. I love having dips on hand for when I get late night munchies because you can eat them straight out of the fridge! Your dip will stay good for up to 4 days in an airtight container.

  1. Hi Alyssa. I can wait to make this dip!! Love Dips. One ?, can we freeze? Read all comments and the dip was always gone to fast. Thanx

  2. I made the dip this morning. I just tasted it and it is very salty. Is there anything I can add to take some of the salt out?

    1. Low sodium bacon, can substitute 1/3 of the mayo for sour cream, it will give a lighter~brighter flavor and still get the mayo aspect.

  3. Delicious dip and easy to make. 1/2 cup of bacon bits equaled 1/2 pound of bacon. I used 1 Cup of Mayo (with olive oil) and 1/2 cup Greek Plain Non-fat yogurt. Brought it to a gathering hosted by a former caterer from Spain. She loved it and asked for the recipe. Thanks!

  4. I just made this for “Dip Day” at work tomorrow, and after I tasted it I kept out a little to have for dinner with zucchini chips (plain dehydrated zucchini slices) and cherry tomatoes. I think it is pretty paleo/keto also, if I’m not mistaken.

Anyways, I love it! Thank you for sharing the recipe!

  5. Hello. My favorite mayo to use is Miracle Whip because of the sweet taste. What mayo did you use or heard of others using?

    1. I love the taste of miracle whip but mayo is always a classic too. I like mayo a little better but it is more of a preference of taste. It does make a difference. Hope that helps! XOXO

    2. In my opinion, Miracle Whip is not mayonnaise. I wouldn’t use anything but “real” mayo in this recipe. My favorite brands of it are Hellman’s and Duke’s. Just my two cents…

        Good Morning;
I am a huge Miracle Whip user, it gives recipes a much better taste, I have made this several times with miracle whip,it is a big hit,I made it for a Halloween party this year ,I doubled the recipe, there was maybe a half cup left.

  6. I don’t have any almonds, so I thought about using pecans. What do you think? Also, would you toast them before putting them in to add too the crunch?

    1. I have made this dip several times do not freeze it it has mayonnaise and don’t freeze it you will ruin it also when you use the green onions use the white part as well as the green part cut the top of the white part off and cut probably about an inch of the green part I dice mine up really fine so if you’re not using the white part you’re making a big mistake

  7. I made this today (Christmas Day) to take for dinner at my cousins house. I was looking for something quick and easy. The reviews said it was great but I was doubtful – it looked kind of odd but I had all the ingredients so I gave it a go. OMG – Everyone loved it! The 14 year old teenager ate almost the whole bole! She loved it and everyone else did. This is definitely a keeper. I only have one complaint – when I got home and went to check the recipe to put in my recipe file I couldn’t find it – I couldn’t find it under appetizers – or did I just miss it? Either way, it’s a 5 star keeper for me!

  8. This dip is so yummy! I had the original recipe at a friend’s house. Today I made it myself but changed the almonds to water chestnuts sliced into sticks( my daughter has a nut allergy). The result was excellent! Still has a crunch from the water chestnuts. We all loved it and so easy to make.

    1. Hi Ellen!

Thanks for the comments and feedback. I am so happy that you loved the dip. It is one of my favorites. I am glad that you were able to make a substitution that fits your daughters needs. Thanks for following along! xoxo

    1. There are about 8 to 10 servings but will feed a medium to larger crowd especially if there are other appetizers there.
I like to use myfitnesspal.com or skinny taste.com for any nutritional information. Hope that helps you find what you are looking for. XOXO

      1. When I made this million-dollar dip I used real Applewood smoked bacon I cooked it in the oven till it was nice and crisp but not too crisp I let it cool and then I dice up real small excellent dip

  9. Love this dip….positively addicting! I made mine with 1/2 mayo and 1/2 sour cream and chopped up real bacon. Definitely make it the night before if you can to allow flavors to meld.

  10. So ADDICTING! I like to serve it to myself….with a spoon.

Every time I take it somewhere I am asked for the recipe.
Thank you thank you for this delicious, easy recipe that uses simple ingredients that I always have on hand.

  11. I made this today for a birthday party tomorrow. I used Mayo made from Olive oil and cut with some sour cream. I’m hoping the flavors blend overnight, when I first sampled it was really salty with a heavy Mayo taste. Any idea on how to dilute; I’m lenient in bringing this tomorrow.

  12. Hi Alyssa, put one half teaspoon cayenne pepper in your million dollar dip and taste the amazing WOW in mouth! Deliciously amazing.

I love any dip with cheese, bacon and green onions! Yum, if I calculate correctly off the top of my head I think this would be about 4 cups dip divided by 12 people equals about 5 TBSP or ⅓ c dip per person. That should be plenty when serving with other apps/ meal etc? I’m thinking tailgating!! Thanks Katie! I love the recipe.

    1. Yes, I would quadruple the recipe. You can even make a few different dips so you are not making just one big one if you need to. That sounds like a great party though!

  14. How much does this make? I am hosting a party for around 150 people and need to know how many times would I need to make it for that quantity. I will be serving this with other appetizer foods too.

    1. I actually wouldn’t make it too big if you are making other appetizers. This will feed about 10 to 15 people munching on it throughout one night. You can triple it or quadruple it and have enough. Not everyone will eat it and those that do won’t make it into a meal, especially if you have other appetizers going on.

  15. This sounds delicious and so simple to make; however, the calories per serving sounds very high. Is that accurate…3730 per serving?

This recipe is similar to one I make but we use Gouda cheese and spread it on French bread and stick in the oven under broiler for a few minutes until a golden bubbly! My family goes NUTS for it!

  17. 5 stars
Delicious and super simple and fast to make. I’ve made it multiple of times and my family and friends request it for every gathering!

  18. 5 stars
This recipe was super easy! I cooked a pack of bacon in the skillet and added a little bit of the bacon grease to the dip.

  19. As a substitute for the Mayo. You can use mashed potato and sweet potato. This is something that is a take on a Greek Skordilla dip. Look it up.

  20. One of our Bunco Gals brought this dip to our Bunco game last night. It was a BIG HIT with all players. There was not one bite left !! #1 in our group!!

  21. Miracle Whip is NOT MAYO! It is a Salad Dressing . Hellmans is Mayo — mayonaise 2 DIFFERENT things. Different ingredients as well as flavor.

  22. My neighbor has been making this for years. She spreads it on little rye breads on a cookie sheet, and heats it under the broiler for just a few minutes. We all love it. (she does not add almonds)

  23. 5 stars
