Million Dollar Dip Ingredients

Overhead shot of labeled ingredients.
  • Almonds: Toast your almonds before for maximum nutty flavor.
  • Cheese: Use freshly shredded cheddar for the best taste and texture. You can also use aged Gouda or Gruyere.
  • Flavor Boosts: Add extra flavor with 1 Tablespoon ranch seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, or a few dashes of hot sauce!
  • Mayonnaise: You can substitute mayo for sour cream, cream cheese, or Greek yogurt. I have found that mayonnaise works best.

  1. We have a nut allergy so wondering if there’s any ideas of a substitute to add in or has anyone had it without the nuts. Also wondering if anyones tried it with cream cheese or sour cream or maybe even a mixture of both instead of Mayo ?

  2. This is delicious! I’ve made this over and over at the request of my friends. I accidentally baked it without thinking the third time, ha, and it was even more yummy!

  3. I followed the recipe exact and mine turned out super salty. Could it have been the bacon? I used the Black Label Hormel real bacon bits.

    1. This dip is best when it’s made fresh! You can refrigerate it for a few days, though after you make it!

I accidentally baked it the second time that I made it. Everyone loved it. They liked it much better then cold. It had such a wonderful burst of flavors when baked. Now it’s expected of me to make this dip for every occasion. 🙂

      1. Oh no! I’m so sorry. This dip is one of my favorites! You should try out a few other ones and see if you like them better!

I know this as Neiman Marcus Dip, identical
I’ve been making it for years, literally the quickest appetizer to pull together for any occasion or to bring to someone’s house at the last minute. I do like the suggested additions though

Made this for a party & nobody liked it, they all thought it was very bland. The recipe was followed exactly as written. Definitely will not be making again.

  7. This sounds wonderful and easy (which I need in my life)!
My question is….. can you substitute the mayo for sour cream? Just the thought of mayo turns my stomach
Thank you in advance for answering

    1. You can try sour cream or greek yogurt! Those are common substitutes for mayo. The taste may be a little bit different but it will still be delicious!

Every time I make this I am asked for the recipe by multiple guests!! It is a sure winner. I do add some garlic powder and some hot sauce to spice it up again and serve with wheat thins! I have also substituted creamed cheese for the mayonnaise. Best Foods /Helms Mayonnaise works best!!

Can the almonds be substituted with walnuts or pecans? I cannot eat almonds, and I really want to try this dip!

  10. Absolutely one of my go to dips. Sometimes I switch it up. It is wonderful with horseradish. As much as you like.

I’ve made this many of times for my client lunch and learns. They always end up asking for the recipe so I make sure to print off some and leave it next to the dish. I omit the almonds when doing it for a public event and it’s still delicious!

I just made this for the festivities after our Church Christmas play tonight. It is simply marvelous. I did add ranch flavoring and a little onion powder because I was short on green onions.
