How do you make brown butter?
To make brown butter, start by melting your butter over medium heat. It is best to use a pan with a light colored bottom so that you can watch the color. Whisk the butter as it melts. You will notice the butter start smell nutty and turn brown and frothy. This is when it is ready.
How long do you cook the shrimp?
When the shrimp are no longer pink in color and is taking on more of an opaque white color, is when I would consider them done. You do want to keep an eye on how white they do get and assure they do not overcook. Keeping an eye on size reduction in the shrimp as well is a great way to watch how โdoneโ your shrimp are getting. I like to leave the tails on the shrimp when cooking them. It does add extra flavor; however, if you prefer to peel the whole shrimp or purchase them that way, that is fine too.
Can you overcook shrimp?
The exterior of the shrimp should be pink with red tails and the flesh is slightly opaque and a little โwhiteโ in color. If it is too bright white in color, then the shrimp may be overcooked.

So easy, and so delicious. Thank you for this recipe!
so so good. i love the simplicity of this, but with a hint of complexity in the flavors that make it addicting! i used ground cayenne, but still gave it that perfect profile of heat.
I’m going to make this for my in laws. I know they will love it.
Thank you.
I just made the Brown Butter Spicy Shrimp and I have to tell you it was WONDERFUL, the butter really did get brown and was smoking, I was worried but omg it was so good..thank you for posting this.
OMG. This is AMAZING! I was feeling lazy, and didnโt want to have to wash another pan, so I took the shrimp out after they were cooked and put some sliced mushroomsi. The sauce, added some fresh garlic a little bit more butter and some salt and pepper. Probably the best mushrooms I have ever eaten in my entire life. Shrimp and mushrooms in brown butters AU even is my new favprite thing.
thank you for this, love the brown butter seafood combo, I’m thinking this might also work well with scallops?
This looks delicious. I haven’t had shrimp in forever! Thanks for sharing =)
Just the words “brown butter” make my mouth water. I love the idea of tossing the shrimp with pasta. Sautรฉed garlic shrimp is a popular tapas, but that doesn’t make a meal. Pasta with shrimp is more like it.
