This is the exact same dressing as Cafe Rio’s. If I had them side by side I wouldn’t be able to tell a difference. The site that I got the recipe from had been working to perfect it for a year. This was absolutely amazing over my Cafe Rio Pulled Pork Salad!

  1. I used to make this a lot but moved to a different country and no longer have access to the powder (only hidden valley ranch bottles).

Any ideas on what I can do to make this recipe happen?

    1. In a small bowl, stir together the parsley, pepper, seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder and thyme. Use as a substitute for Ranch Dressing Mix, that should help you. Enjoy this meal! It is delicious!

  2. So I have made this several times now and think I got the thickness down. I put 1 cup of mayo 1/2 cup buttermilk and 1/2 cup of sour cream. I also use a whole thing of cilantro (1 bunch). This gives it the green color! Also we like it spicy so we put two jalapenos in with the seeds! If it’s still to runny decrease the buttermilk and add sour cream! Let sit and thick thick thick!

  3. Do you make the ranch packet (like add the sour cream) or do you just dump the seasoning packet in with the rest of the ingredients?!

  4. I made this recipe tonight, but it came out more sour than the Cafe Rio version, Any suggestions on what might have gone wrong (I followed everything precisely….just can’t figure out what the deal is). Thanks!!!!

  5. I made another version of this recipe tonight and it was so sweet and all wrong. It was missing jalapeno and it added sugar and cayenne. Now I’ve gotta fix it and make it better. Thanks for your awesome blog!

  6. Just made this today. It is absolutely delicious. Beware, though, if you aren’t a big fan of cilantro like I am the flavor may be a bit strong for you.
