This is the exact same dressing as Cafe Rio’s. If I had them side by side I wouldn’t be able to tell a difference. The site that I got the recipe from had been working to perfect it for a year. This was absolutely amazing over my Cafe Rio Pulled Pork Salad!

Can you use regular milk and not buttermilk?
You need buttermilk for this recipe. You can easily make it at home with just a couple of ingredients! Here is my buttermilk recipe: How to Make Buttermilk
How much dressing does this recipe make?
Thank you!
Hi Mandy!
This recipe makes about 3 cups of dressing! Please let me know what you think. I would love to hear back from you! Thanks for following along!!
I used to make this a lot but moved to a different country and no longer have access to the powder (only hidden valley ranch bottles).
Any ideas on what I can do to make this recipe happen?
In a small bowl, stir together the parsley, pepper, seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder and thyme. Use as a substitute for Ranch Dressing Mix, that should help you. Enjoy this meal! It is delicious!
I made it and was more runny. But tasted great.
Hi, we are making this for 120 people. How much would you double?
Wow! That is a lot of people ;). I would recommend making it about 8 to 10 times. I hope that helps! Let me know how it turns out! XOXO
So I have made this several times now and think I got the thickness down. I put 1 cup of mayo 1/2 cup buttermilk and 1/2 cup of sour cream. I also use a whole thing of cilantro (1 bunch). This gives it the green color! Also we like it spicy so we put two jalapenos in with the seeds! If it’s still to runny decrease the buttermilk and add sour cream! Let sit and thick thick thick!
Do you use the liquid buttermilk or the dry buttermilk?
what is the colorie count on the copy cat cafe rio cilantro lime dressing
This is soooo good I could drink it!
I agree! Hehe
Do you make the ranch packet (like add the sour cream) or do you just dump the seasoning packet in with the rest of the ingredients?!
Just made this recipe last night it was amazing! My family was raving!!!
I made this recipe tonight, but it came out more sour than the Cafe Rio version, Any suggestions on what might have gone wrong (I followed everything precisely….just can’t figure out what the deal is). Thanks!!!!
Remove the cilantro stems- only use leaves.
Mine is the same, sour, and I only used the cilantro leaves.
How long does this recipe stay good for?
Thx in advance! Love it
Mikissa
I made another version of this recipe tonight and it was so sweet and all wrong. It was missing jalapeno and it added sugar and cayenne. Now I’ve gotta fix it and make it better. Thanks for your awesome blog!
Just made this today. It is absolutely delicious. Beware, though, if you aren’t a big fan of cilantro like I am the flavor may be a bit strong for you.
