Korean Ground Beef and Rice Bowls

Korean Ground Beef and Rice Bowls

This right here is my boy’s favorite weeknight meal. They beg me to make it every week. Since we have been so busy with Lacrosse, we have been having it every week. It requires minimal ingredients and little effort to make.

With minimal ingredients and big flavor, my kids devour it every time. The ground beef browns in minutes but still brings that classic Korean taste with brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger. I always have these simple ingredients on hand, so all I need is a pound of ground beef to make it happen. Serve it over rice, toss in some veggies, and top with sesame seeds and green onions for a quick, delicious dinner you’ll make again and again. If you love these flavors, try my Slow Cooker Korean BBQ Chicken next!

  1. Hello,

I am excited to try this recipe! However, I have a question. Do you drain the ground beef fat before you add the soy sauce marinade, or is that not necessary?

    Thanks!

    1. I skimmed off the fat when I cooked it, but I was also using extra lean ground beef so it probably wasn’t necessary. But I think that also helped my sauce thicken up a bit, too, which was nice.

We love this recipe and is a go-to dish for us. I do add a little water to the meat to make it a little saucier. This is an easy recipe to keep ingredients on hand. I always sauté some veggie separately to eat with it like peppers or green beans.

  3. I was looking for something fast to use with some ground beef and rice I had left over. I never thought I would like this so much! Was done in about 10 minutes (already had the rice prepared) and we devoured it! Thank you so much!

  4. My God this was awesome. I never reply on recipes, but, this might be one of the tastiest (and easiest) recipes I have ever made. Will certainly be a go to from now on.

Great sauce recipe, thank you, I doubled it then added can of water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, straw mushrooms, and baby corn….then added rough chop bok choy, served over white rice. Super easy and delicious. Leftovers heat up very well also.

This recipe is delicious and really easy to make! I am 14 years old and I was able to serve this amazing dish to my family! This is my second time making it my family keeps begging me to make some more

I give it 5 stars due to it’s simplicity and fab taste. I will disclose that I’m not a sweet protein lover so I cut the sugar by half and that was great for my palate. I served it with some leftover steamed broccoli, brown rice, and cauliflower rice and had a tasty lunch whipped up in a matter of minutes. I’ll definitely keep this in the meal rotation.
