How to Make Homemade Pancake Mix

This recipe is a no-brainer! Making homemade pancake mix from scratch is super simple and seriously tastes so much better. This mix is as delicious as it is easy!

  1. Add: In a large bowl, add flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Stir to Combine: Whisk the pancake mix ingredients together until combined. Store in a sealed container and keep in a dry cool place.

How To Use The Mix To Make Pancakes

  1. Combine: In a medium-sized bowl, combine ยพ cup of milk, 1 egg, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Add 1 cup of homemade pancake mix and stir until just combined. Donโ€™t overmix the wet and dry ingredients. If you have lumps, they will give you the lightest, fluffiest texture!
  2. Cook: Drop ยผ cup of the pancake mixture onto a heated, buttered skillet on medium heat, wait for those bubbles to form on top to ensure you don’t end up with gooey middles. Then, cook until golden brown on both sides and enjoy!

Storing Homemade Pancake Mix

  • At Room Temperature: This homemade mix stays fresh just as long as a store-bought versionโ€”about 6 to 8 months. Keep it in a cool, dark place, and make sure your jar or container is tightly sealed to lock in freshness!

Made this mix with a gluten free flour blend. I used soy milk to make them, and added a couple tablespoons extra of the dry mix to make the batter a bit thicker. They were perfect. Even my picky 7 year old devoured them.

  3. In your ingredient list
You donโ€™t have the following in the list
    Veg oil
    Eggs
    Milk
All thee needs to be in the ingredient list
Would you please fix this as this is important cause itโ€™s the ingredients

    1. Hello! This is just a recipe for the dry pancake mix, not the actual pancakes. There is a tip on making them into pancakes in the post though if you would like further instructions!

If you use self raising flour you don’t need the baking powder and salt, but needs the sugar and veg oil. When making waffles, separate the yoke from the egg whites and whip the whites up into peaks and fold it into the batter makes for fluffy waffles

Yummy and fluffy pancakes. I think the negative comments are older ones based on the original
Recipe. Itโ€™s been update and the current recipe posted works great! My kids loved it!

    1. I was looking for that style jar as well and wondering what size she used as I don’t see it anywhere on here. Recipe looks great and would like to do this for my sons.

  6. I made the necessary adjustment by adding 1 tablespoon of baking soda.
Then used a bit more powder, to make the mixture the consistency I like for the pan. Turned out great!

    1. Hi! This recipe is just for the actual powdered pancake mix. To make them into pancakes then, you need to add in the milk, eggs, and vegetable oil!

    1. Keep the mix the same but when you go to mix it up, just use a little less liquid and let it sit on the counter for 5 min before using. This helps the mixture thicken.
