Korean Ground Beef and Rice Bowls

Korean Ground Beef and Rice Bowls

This right here is my boy’s favorite weeknight meal. They beg me to make it every week. Since we have been so busy with Lacrosse, we have been having it every week. It requires minimal ingredients and little effort to make.

With minimal ingredients and big flavor, my kids devour it every time. The ground beef browns in minutes but still brings that classic Korean taste with brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger. I always have these simple ingredients on hand, so all I need is a pound of ground beef to make it happen. Serve it over rice, toss in some veggies, and top with sesame seeds and green onions for a quick, delicious dinner you’ll make again and again. If you love these flavors, try my Slow Cooker Korean BBQ Chicken next!

  1. We really enjoyed this recipe. It’s sweet, savory and spicy. I doubled the sauce as recommended by some, because I love sauces, but it made the meal way to flavorful. Next time I’ll try the recipe as written but will probably eventually just make a tad extra sauce. Google “baking soda ground beef” for an easy way to improve ground beef. ?

  2. I highly recommend liquid smoke to replace sesame for anyone with allergies, my dad started adding it years ago when he figured out i had an allergy. It gives a smokeyness thats missing when removing sesame

Love this. We make it over & over & over again. Thank you! And the sauce is too good that we have to double it to make everyone happy:)

I love this recipe! We usually make the beef in one pan and stir-fry some veggies in another to go with it. A staple in our household – thank you!

Easy, quick, delicious, and cheap! Korean Ground beef and rice for the win. I added broccoli and multiplied the sauce ingredients by 1.5.

Very good recipe. Added broccoli to this and doubled the sauce recipe the second time I made it. Have made several times now with the broccoli and double sauce. Love how quickly this dish comes together.

We made this tonight and the entire family loved it (including a couple picky kids)! I will add it to my list of regular recipes.
In case anyone is in a similar boat: our son is allergic to sesame. We substituted with grape seed oil.

  7. I made it, used fresh ginger and Korean red chili flakes. I also topped it with a runny egg and served with cabbage and radish kimchees. Had everything in my pantry so it was easy peasy! Great taste and very filling, this is definitely a pantry recipe I will make many more times.

LOVE this recipe! Thank you for posting this recipe as I was so bored of all my dishes. Also, being of Asian descent, this dish had great flavors! I just topped everything off with an over easy egg like the way my mom used to make it. Thanks again! I will definitely be adding this recipe to my rotation.
