The Best Homemade Alfredo Sauce Ever!

The most creamy and delicious homemade alfredo sauce that you will ever make!   This is a tried and true recipe and you will agree that it is the best recipe out there! homemadealfredo2

I just had to post my favorite alfredo recipe that I have created here on the blog.   There are a few secret ingredients that set it apart from all of the rest.  If there is one thing I can always count on my family to eat it is my homemade alfredo sauce over pasta.  We recently had some company over for dinner and I made these Chicken Bacon Garlic Alfredo Roll Ups and they always are a huge hit!

This alfredo sauce is thick and creamy and the flavor is out of the world.  It is restaurant quality that you can make right at home.  It has delicious garlic flavor and italian seasonings.  I like to add cream cheese to my alfredo for that extra creamy flavor and texture.  This alfredo sauce always gets raved about whenever I make it!

This alfredo sauce comes together pretty easily and you will never go back to the jarred alfredo sauce again!  Ick!  This alfredo sauce is awesome on top of just about any pasta but is also delicious used as a dip or even spread on pizza.

I think this sauce is even better than any restaurant that I have been to and the best part is that you can make it yourself!   It is thick, creamy, and rich and the perfect sauce on top of your favorite pasta.

I know that you will quickly agree that this is the BEST!  This will be a recipe that you make again and again, just like I do!

  1. Nice recipe. Family enjoyed it. I added shrimp, fresh parsley, and broccoli. Next time I would use less butter; maybe 1/4 or 1/3 cup.

  2. Just made your Tuscan garlic chicken. Made a few changes. Changed broth to white wine. It was so good you could eat this stuff for soup and I made it in my crock pot. Will be making this sauce ahead and freezing it. Thank you and can’t wait to try more.

  3. This is amazing!! My 4 year old yelled “I LOVE THIS DINNER” after his first bite! Then before he went to bed he requested to have it again the following night. We ended up going out to eat the next night and he was actually mad because he wanted more “pasta and white sauce!”

  4. I’ve made this a couple of times. I love ihe taste. But the sauce breaks down when I used it for a casserole with penne pasta and cooked chicken and bacon. I left the casserole in the fridge over night and cooked it the next day. The sauce breaks down and separates. Can you tell me how to avoid that?

  5. How long can you store the sauce for?
Thank you!!! I really love it but I want to know if I can save it for more than 1 day in the fridge.

  6. It’s a good recipe… however, if you’re adding meat to the sauce (such as chicken), I highly suggest cooking the chicken in the butter and spices first. During that step, I also recommend using marsala to give it a more savory flavor.

It was my first time making actual alfredo sauce (not just a creamy garlic sauce, which was also delicious) and my family loved it!! I can’t wait to make more next time my family is itching for an Italian dish.

  7. This sauce instantley became a family favorite the first time that I made it, and my son has taught both of his grandmotherts how to make it. I like to blacken Ahi Tuna on the grill and add it to the pasta and sauce. Delicious.

  8. Thanks S for the great recipe,my son has celiac disease so finding a creamy recipe without flour is alway hard. My family loved this. Made it with lemon garlic chicken. It was completely gluten free and delicious!

  9. Hello! I’ve never put cream cheese in Alfredo Sauce, but I’ll tell you, that was the best sauce I’ve ever made! Thanks for the recipe! It’s a family hit!

  10. Indeed, the best! Almost too easy! Added chicken and broccoli and it’s a full meal with garlic bread of course. I cut the cream with a bit of milk to make it healthier ? lol

  11. I made this tonight exactly as the recipe calls and it was amazing. Instead of adding chicken, I added crabmeat and let me tell you… it was better than any restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. You have done an amazing job with this recipe. I will be making this for years to come!

  12. Absolutely amazing! I HATE jar alfredo but have never found a recipe worth making for white sauce. So I unfortunately buy the jar white sauce and I just suffer through it lol! I have made this twice this week! Once with shrimp and tortellini and then with chicken and rigatoni! Its now a family favorite and i now NEVER have to but jar sauce again!

  13. Made this but changed a few things it’s delicious I just made enough for me so I eyeballed ingredients and I didn’t have Italian season so I used oregano which works. I also just used garlic power & garlic pepper didn’t have minced garlic. I added cooked shrimp and poured over cheese and spinach ravioli perfect!

  14. Awesome. Easy to make and affordable. I only used a 1/4 cup of butter though and thought it was plenty. Also I only had about a 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese so I added a cup of Gouda and it came out great. Thanks Alyssa

  15. I love Alfredo pasta and this right here is the best thus far! Thank you so much for posting! Wayyyyy better and CHEAPER than restaurants for sure!

  16. I wish I could make this recipe.
But alas, my doctor would scold me.
    My nutritionist would disown me.
    My diet consultant would resign.
And I would have to give up my “healthy foodie” decoder ring!!! 🙂

If nothing else Alyssa, the pictures are nice to dream about.

  17. Alyssa isn’t kidding. This IS the BEST alfredo sauce ever! …and up until tonight I didn’t care too much for alfredo. seriously. too cheesy. This recipe rocks!!! Made it exactly as written. Sauteed shrimp and poured shrimp & sauce over spaghetti squash-it was AMAZING!!! I added some chinese chili paste to spice it up a little. My taste buds wept with joy-not kidding. Thanks for this awesome recipe Alyssa!

    1. HAHA!! Thanks so much! It is one of my favorites too!! Thank you so much for the rave review. You are so sweet! Thanks for choosing one of my recipes and following along with me! XOXO

  18. Made this for an impromptu dinner with my in-laws. I just so happened to have everything (except I had half and half rather than heavy whipping cream). Put it over some lobster ravioli I had stashed in the freezer. It was a huge hit. My in-laws were very impressed and had several helpings of dinner. Thank God this recipe is so quick and easy. It made my Sunday evening a breeze.

  19. I love this recipe. I grill chicken and cut it up into pieces. I also add lemon pepper and it makes it all so delicious. No other additions required. If I’m feeding a lot more people I add some chicken broth to thin it out so we don’t run out so fast. This is a family favorite!

  20. Amazing Alfredo Sauce !!! Definitely the best I’ve ever had. Cut up grilled zucchini, instead of pasta, for my Keto lifestyle. Definitely will make again. 5 stars !

  21. Hi. I am about to try your Alfredo sauce. Could you please recommend a type of Parmesan cheese and how finely it should be grated? Thank you! Please reply to my email.

  22. This sauce is AWESOME!
This is my first time not using a jar Alfredo sauce and I must say, I’ll never use store bought Alfredo sauce again. Thanks!

  23. So your homemade Alfredo sauce is absolutely amazing!! Every time I make it I get compliments that it is the best they have ever had! My questions is that I am about to make this for 90 people!! How many batches would you say I should make? Any tips for making it in advance? Or does it need to be made right before it is served? Also any tips for cooking the noodles? Thank you so much in advance

    1. OH! WOW! 90 people are going to be so lucky to have you cook for them. It would have to be about 8-10 batches depending on how much each person uses. It only lasts about 3 to 4 days in the fridge. I would recommend storing it in the fridge. The freezer will separate it and will not taste the same. You can put a tiny amount of oil on the noodles to keep them from sticking together. Hope that helps! That will be a great party for you! Thanks for choosing my recipes! XOXO

  24. Wow, the Alfredo Sauce was absolutely heaven without using flour. I loved how you discovered the delicious taste. I shared this sauce recipe mixed in pasta and already a person wanted this recipe. I told him, it’s the Alfredo Sauce, a key to heaven.

  25. I’m just learning/starting to count macros. What is the nutritional value for this sauce? It’s a staple in my meal prep every week.

  26. This Alfredo sauce is absolutely the worlds best!!! I was scared about the Italian seasoning but holy cow it adds just that little bit extra something. It’s not overpoweringly garlic either. I sautéd some chicken first, set it aside, then added the chicken and some thawed broccoli at the end. Sooooo good!!!

  27. I am going to make this for dinner tomorrow I know my husband and I will love it thank you for the recipes . im going to try them all

  28. This alfredo sauce was absolutely amazing. Healed all my family problems. This sauce has the potential to cure cancer worldwide. Fully recommend. Would give a rating of a 10/10!!!!

  29. Excellent sauce,, we used egg noodles and mixed in steamed broccoli, steamed crinkle cut carrot slices, and chopped mushrooms and then tossed in the sauce made exactly to your recipe,, best thanksgiving meal alternative in a long time. Thank you for posting this. I am going to print this out.

  30. This has become such a staple in my house. All the teenagers love it! We have even eaten it with ground meat and I called it “stroganoff” .. haha they didn’t care they love this sauce!

  31. I’ll have to try this, although I don’t think I can make alfredo sauce without nutmeg… I love it in most cream sauces. I started putting nutmeg in them when I tried a Martha Stewart recipe for Italian Grilled Cheese sandwiches (basically made like french toast but with fresh mozzarella in between two slices of Texas Toast, then heavy cream and nutmeg added to the egg that you dip it in.)
