A Reader’s Review

“This is the best salmon recipe Iโ€™ve found to date! I am a relatively novice cook and this salmon is so easy but SO GOOD that I make it about once a week!”

Garlic Brown Sugar Glazed Salmon

This may not be well known, but I used to hate salmon! But I have been converted, and now I can’t get enough. Salmon has turned into one of my all-time favorite foods, and not only is it delicious, but it’s good for you too! Win-win. There are quite a few salmon recipes that you have to try.

This garlic brown sugar salmon recipe soared to the number one spot of my favorite salmon recipes because it turns out perfectly every time. The sweet glazed made from brown sugar, garlic, soy sauce, lemon juice, and some salt and pepper is so delicious and perfectly complements the fish. The salmon flakes off with your fork, making every bite melt in your mouth. Even my kids love this recipe!

Ingredients in Garlic Glazed Salmon

This delicious garlic brown sugar glazed salmon has the perfect mixture of sweet and savory. I mean, how can you go wrong with brown butter and garlic?? To find all of the exact ingredients, check out the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Atlantic Salmon: I used Atlantic salmon in this recipe, but you can use another kind if you prefer.
  • Olive Oil: This is what the salmon will cook up in, making it nice and flaky.
  • Brown Sugar: This creates a caramelized glaze and adds a sweetness to the flavor.
  • Soy Sauce: The soy sauce adds a tangy taste.
  • Garlic Cloves: The minced garlic adds a flavor and smell that makes this salmon irresistible!
  • Lemon: I use the juice of one lemon. Fresh is always best!
  • Salt and Pepper: The seasonings enhance all of the flavors in the recipe.
  • Lemon Slices and Chopped Parsley: I use these as a garnish to the salmon.

How to Make Garlic Brown Sugar Glazed Salmon

Not only does this salmon taste heavenly, but it’s so easy to make. You can be eating it in less than 30 minutes!

  1. Prep: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Lay the salmon on top and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Fold up the sides of the aluminum foil around the salmon.
  2. Make Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Pour the glaze over the salmon. Top the salmon with aluminum foil and seal.
  3. Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until salmon is cooked throughout. Take the foil off of the top and baste the salmon with the sauce in the foil. Broil for 3-5 minutes or until brown and caramelized. Garnish with lemon slices and chopped parsley if desired.

How to Tell When Salmon is Fully Cooked?

You can tell when your garlic brown sugar glazed salmon is fully cooked when the fat intensifies and runs out. Cook the salmon further only to get the desired degree of doneness. When flakes separate easily, but the meat is translucent, it’s rare but edible.

Storing Leftovers

This Garlic Brown Sugar Glazed Salmon can last for up to 3-4 days when stored properly in an airtight container in the refrigerator. When you are ready to eat your leftovers, cooking them up in the air fryer is my favorite way! Reheat them in an air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 4-5 minutes. It keeps the texture perfectly flaky every time.

I’m sure this will taste good based on the ingredients, but 20 minutes didn’t cook my fish. Trying it now at 400 degrees for 15 min. It was raw. Fingers crossed my oven isn’t broken! ๐Ÿ™‚

This was delicious! Took a bit longer to cook through than the recipe indicates — it’s possible my oven temp was off, or the fish was really thick. I just turned it up to 400 for 5 minutes longer in the baking stage. It wound up being cooked perfectly – not overdone at all. I will definitely make this again.

This was easy to make, easy to clean up, and was a great flavor to add to salmon when this family doesn’t want strictly Asian flavors in the recipe. They won’t eat sesame oil, ginger, cilantro, nor dill, mustard, oregano, or anything spicy. Rather limits what you can do with salmon, eh? But THIS recipe was a winner.

Oh man. Sounds like you may need a new family! Lol!!

Iโ€™ve made this a couple times already and itโ€™s on the menu for tonight.

Me and my family absolutely love this recipe! It’s a must every week, sometimes twice a week! Thank you so much!๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

Great recipe. Doesn’t overpower the salmon. Four instead of five stars due to mentioning Atlantic (colorized and antibiotic laden) salmon. Wild for taste, health, and the planet!

This recipe is amazing. My only addition was sprinkling red pepper flakes on the salmon before adding the glaze.

I loved this. And such easy clean up! Everyone else who ate it raved about it and I was even asked if I would make it for them again if they bought the salmon! Wish I could post my photo. Beautiful!

I have never fixed salmon before nor was I a fan but my nephew wanted it for his birthday. With COVID-19 cases surging in our community and recommendations to stay home if possible I was not ready to venture out to a restaurant yet. I did however (with face mask) go to the store and spend a fortune on a 2lb salmon steak. Whatever the guy behind the counter told me to get I bought. Then I started self doubting and second guessing if I could pull this off and knew for sure I would ruin that lovely expensive piece of fish. Found this recipe and actually had all the ingredients, read all the great reviews, so I went for it. I followed the instructions plus added a pinch of cayenne as one reviewer suggested, let marinade for an hour. In summer I only use my counter top oven to keep the heat to a minimum and I have to say that salmon with sauce turned out incredible!!! The brown sugar caramelized on top from the broiler was da bomb! I was so impressed I have talked about it to anyone willing to listen. Can’t wait to make it again. I finished out the dinner with roasted asparagus and loaded baked potatoes. Thank you for sharing.
P.S. He was so delighted with the dinner he wasn’t even upset that I didn’t buy him a present.

I have never been a salmon fan but I am aware of the health benefits, so I am always on the hunt for a recipe we will enjoy. This is it! My husband and I just kept commenting while eating it that this was a “keeper”. Prepared just as written. Thanks for the recipe!

This one hit the spot and it won my partner over the first time out the gate. Please note that he does NOT enjoy seafood, he was only giving it a chance because I sort of forced on him, lol. He cleaned the plate. I must say it left me smiling and pleasantly surprised. I will be using this recipe, again and again and again.

  10. I loved this recipe. The ingredients worked perfectly together. My family loved the fish and they are picky eaters! Only issue I had was after the 22 minutes cooked at 350 degrees in the oven the fish was still too raw so I increased the temperature to 400, recovered and cooked for another 20 minutes. Will definitely make this again. Thank you for sharing this with us.

I made it, I liked it and I enjoyed it. I would suggest squeezing lemon over each bite Incase the fish tastes a tad fishy. Itโ€™ll fix it right up. For a side I had grilled asparagus sprinkles with Parmesan cheese.
