Korean Ground Beef and Rice Bowls

Korean Ground Beef and Rice Bowls

This right here is my boys favorite weeknight meal. They beg me to make it every week. Since we have been so busy with Lacrosse we have been having it every week. It requires minimal ingredients and requires little effort to make.

Easy, minimal ingredients, and my kids devour it. This meal became my new BFF.

The ground beef takes only minutes to brown but you still get that delicious Korean flavor in this meal. The brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger combination is the best.

It helps take the flavor to next level with the simple kitchen ingredients. The best part is that because we love Asian flavors so much I always have these ingredients on hand. All I have to do is buy a pound of ground beef each week.

You guys are going to love this meal just as much as we do! It is so delicious when served over rice and I even like to add some veggies to my bowl to make it a well rounded meal.

Sprinkle with some sesame seeds and freshly chopped green onions and you have about the easiest meal that you will ever make! You will make this again and again!

What temperature should ground beef be cooked to?

The interior of a raw hamburger usually does contain bacteria, and is safest if cooked well done. The USDA sets the minimum safe temperature for ground beef at 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

Can you make this with chicken?

Yes! This is a great chicken flavor as well. Sauté your chicken with all the ingredients. Cook until it is no longer pink.

What is the best rice to use?

  • White rice
  • Brown rice
  • Jasmine rice

I just added frozen broccoli to this recipe. Awesome recipe!! Even my picky teenager wants me to make it again.

  2. Is this spicy at all? Just wondering cause my kids don’t like spicy food. I don’t think it will be cause it’s not a lot of crushed red pepper but just wanted to hear from those who have made it before. This looks really good!

    1. Yes, it does have a bit of spiciness to it. You are welcome to omit the red pepper flakes to make sure it does not have that spice.

Definitely one of my go to dinners to make. Love it since it’s easy to make but super flavorful. The only thing I change is making a little more sauce. My kids also like to add a sunny side egg on top. Thank you for the recipe!

This is really good, but I did find (after trying it as is) that it needed more flavor. The ground beef ended up surprisingly dry, like there wasn’t enough sauce because of the rice. While eating I put a bit more soy sauce and pepper on it and it was incredibly delicious. Very good recipe overall though, I will make again

  5. This is soooo good. I eat Paleo so I tweaked the recipe a bit. I used coconut sugar instead of the brown, coconut aminos instead of soy, and a splash of red boats fish sauce. It turned out really well!! Thanks!

I MADE THIS TONIGHT AND IT IS DELICIOUS! There are not any left overs. SO EAST AND QUICK to make. I didn’t have sesame oil, so used EVOO instead. Also, didn’t have sesame seeds or gren onion. We served it over noodles, as we’ve had so much rice lately. THANK YOU FOR THIS RECIPE I will be making it again next week!

Love this recipe! I often make it with ground turkey instead of ground beef and sub 1-2 tsp of sriracha for the red pepper flakes and pepper. I serve it over brown rice or quinoa. Super yum!!

This is one of my family’s favorite meals! My son use to do Karate and the owners wife brought in Korean beef to a tournament once and I’ve been looking for that flavor since. I am just obsessed wirh how easy this is! The only problem I have is there is never any leftovers!
