Korean Ground Beef and Rice Bowls

Korean Ground Beef and Rice Bowls

This right here is my boys favorite weeknight meal. They beg me to make it every week. Since we have been so busy with Lacrosse we have been having it every week. It requires minimal ingredients and requires little effort to make.

Easy, minimal ingredients, and my kids devour it. This meal became my new BFF.

The ground beef takes only minutes to brown but you still get that delicious Korean flavor in this meal. The brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger combination is the best.

It helps take the flavor to next level with the simple kitchen ingredients. The best part is that because we love Asian flavors so much I always have these ingredients on hand. All I have to do is buy a pound of ground beef each week.

You guys are going to love this meal just as much as we do! It is so delicious when served over rice and I even like to add some veggies to my bowl to make it a well rounded meal.

Sprinkle with some sesame seeds and freshly chopped green onions and you have about the easiest meal that you will ever make! You will make this again and again!

My family loves this! We needed a bit more veggies so we julienned some carrots and steamed them to a firm tender, then threw them in to simmer with the beef.. gives a bit more texture and color. If you do make sure to make a little extra sauce.

If we have leftovers we do lettuce wraps the next day for lunch.

    Thanks for the recipe!

  2. This is probably my family’s favorite dinner. Every time I make it it’s such a huge hit! I didn’t have enough soy sauce because I doubled the recipe. So I had to substitute 1/4 cup of low sodium soy sauce and 1/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce with 1/2 teaspoon of rice vinegar and it was still delicious. Even my 2 year old loves it! But one question I always forget to ask is am I supposed to drain the beef after it’s done cooking and no longer pink?

    1. Yay! I am so glad that you love it and made it your own! Thank you for sharing with me! Yes, I do drain the beef after it is done cooking. Thanks for following along with me! XOXO

This is wonderful! You have done an excellent job explaining the reasons to do the little things I’ve always wondered why. Thank you!

A new family favorite! I sautéed chopped broccoli and julienned red pepper then added it in. I also doubled the sauce and served with it three to four cups of sticky rice. Soooo good!

I’ve used this recipe for a while, but this last time I substituted ground turkey for the beef and couscous for the rice, and used it for lettuce wraps. Very healthy, and absolutely delicious. Love it!

Everyone loved it. I used elk burger and followed the recipe as is. Would love some suggestions for veggies to add to the mix aside from broccoli. I couldn’t come up with any ideas.

    1. OH! Elk burger sounds delicious! Thanks so much for sharing! I like to use red/green/yellow bell peppers or carrots. Hope that helps! XOXO

This is really easy and delicious. Did not have sesame oil or red pepper flakes. I doubled the sauce, hubby and I devoured it. Super simple and delicious. Would definitely recommend!

This recipe was awesome – we used ground chicken and threw in half of a head of chopped cabbage at the end and served it over cauliflower rice. So yummy even my 3 kiddos under 5 inhaled it! 🙂

  10. Amazing as wriiten. Do not let the lack of ‘sauciness ‘ fool you. The flavors are exquisite.
I am looking forward to trying this with other beef cuts.

This recipe is so easy and yummy. I added steamed broccoli on the side and my seven year old gobbled it all up!

  12. We enjoyed this recipe but I think next time I will use thin cuts of steak rather than the ground beef. I also modified the seasoning amounts to taste, and others stated theirs were a little bland so I also added salt and pepper to the meat. I used less brown sugar than the recipe called for but this still came out too sweet for me and my boyfriends tastes. So next time I will use even less sugar. I am not very expierenced in the kitchen but this was very easy to pull together in a pinch. Plus I already had a lot of the ingredients at home!!

This is really, really good! I used honey instead of brown sugar, and added rice vinegar for an acid. I’d also increase the ginger and pepper next time, but that’s just my taste. We ate this over white rice, scooped it up with little roasted seaweed sheets, and had sliced cucumber on the side. Amazingly fast and flavorful weeknight meal.
