Korean Ground Beef and Rice Bowls

Korean Ground Beef and Rice Bowls

This right here is my boys favorite weeknight meal. They beg me to make it every week. Since we have been so busy with Lacrosse we have been having it every week. It requires minimal ingredients and requires little effort to make.

Easy, minimal ingredients, and my kids devour it. This meal became my new BFF.

The ground beef takes only minutes to brown but you still get that delicious Korean flavor in this meal. The brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger combination is the best.

It helps take the flavor to next level with the simple kitchen ingredients. The best part is that because we love Asian flavors so much I always have these ingredients on hand. All I have to do is buy a pound of ground beef each week.

You guys are going to love this meal just as much as we do! It is so delicious when served over rice and I even like to add some veggies to my bowl to make it a well rounded meal.

Sprinkle with some sesame seeds and freshly chopped green onions and you have about the easiest meal that you will ever make! You will make this again and again!

  • Brown rice
  • Jasmine rice

  1. My family loves to eat this, but I love to cook it even more- dinner is fresh and on the table within 30 minutes of walking in the door.

Question- have you tried making this and freezing it?
    Thanks!

  2. First made exactly as written—excellent. I’ve also replaced the ground beef with leftover beef roast, cut into small cubes along with the essence from the roast and broccoli. Viola, leftover roast that doesn’t feel like leftover roast. The family, ages 7- to 60-years old, loves it both ways. Marvelous recipe. Thank you so much!

I was looking for something new to do with ground beef when I found this recipe. Some ingredients I had to leave out or substitute, but this is SO good! I used olive oil because I didn’t have sesame oil. I cut up onions in the meat as I browned it. I put the sauce ingredients in a sauce pan and after I drained the meat added the heated sauce. I also added frozen stir- fry vegetables. My husband Loves it. He said he could see it over chow mein noodles. It will definitely be something on our regular meals cooked. Thank you for such a mouthful of flavor overload. It is great.

I already had some left-over cooked Jasmin rice and cooked ground beef. While they were heating up in sesame oil, I found your recipe – PERFECT to complete what I had started. And ANY recipe using ginger has my attention. This is GREAT as is or adjust to individual / family preferences. Next time I make this a great side-dish would be stir-fried garlic green beans. This is now in my FAVORITES – and thanks for sharing it with us.

Easy and very tasty. I added onions, green peppers & tomatoes for some color & veggie serving. Served with broccoli & rice. Was a hit!

This is a regular meal in our rotation. It’s especially delicious served with Kimchi, roasted broccoli and sauteed bokchoy or cabbage. Thanks for the great recipe!

My family and I love this recipe. Sometimes I switch out the beef for ground turkey and it still tastes awesome. I also add steamed broccoli to the dish to get some veggies in.
