Ham & Cheese Slider Ingredients

  • Cheese: Want to change things up? Try provolone, Swiss cheese, or any cheese that melts like a dream.
  • Protein: You can use roast beef or turkey. When cooking for a large crowd, I make some of each. Just be sure your meat layer is even.
  • Sauce: Mayonnaise can be left out of this recipe if you do not enjoy it.
  • Dipping Sauce: My kids love to dip their sliders in ranch dressing or honey mustard.
  • Breakfast: When we have friends and family stay with us, I add bacon and eggs to make a delicious breakfast option!
  • Seasonings: Add Italian, onion, and garlic seasonings for an extra layer of flavor in the glaze.

How to Make Ham and Cheese Sliders

These sliders come together with simple ingredients I always have on hand. Just layer ham and cheese on sliced rolls, brush with the buttery glaze, and bake until hot and melty!

  1. Prep: Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF. Cut all 12 Hawaiian rolls in half. Spread ยผ cup mayonnaise on each sliced side.
  2. Add First Layer of Cheese: Place 6 slices of the 12 slices of cheddar cheese on top of the bottom half of the rolls.
  3. Add Ham: Fold the deli ham and place it on top of the cheese slices.
  4. Add Second Layer of Cheese: Add one more layer of 6 slices of cheese on top of the ham.
  5. Add Roll Tops/ Make Glaze:ย Place the top of the roll over the ham and cheese layers, then place the sliders in a pan.ย Whisk together poppy seeds, yellow mustard, melted butter, and Worcestershire sauce.ย
  6. Brush Glaze and Bake: Brush the butter mixture generously over the top of the sliders. Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the sliders are heated through. Remove the foil and bake for 5 additional minutes to get the tops golden brown.

  1. I have made ham and cheese sliders many times – always a hit! To make assembly a breeze, my suggestion is to NOT first break apart the Hawaiian rolls. Instead, with a long, serrated knife, slice horizontally through the whole pack. Set the top half aside, put the bottom half in your pan, and assemble everything before putting the top half back on and brushing the sauce. It’s super easy to cut them apart after the sliders have baked.

  2. If I use Hawaiian rolls instead of white rolls would the sauce still taste good or would the sweetness of the rolls fight with the sauce?

  3. These were really yummy!! I didnt have just poppy seeds for the top so i used everything bagel seasoning and they came out great! Will make again for sure

  4. Thank you for this recipe. ?
These look so delicious! I think I’ll make today. I saw how much sodium they have though which, I believe it’s mostly from the ham. I still can make them but I’ll use turkey and Swiss cheese instead.

  5. How is it that something so incredibly simple gets me all hungry! Yum! This looks like a perfect treat for a game day!

  6. We make these for work get togethers but we use provelone or swiss cheese and instead of poppy seeds, we use dried onion flakes. Very yummy. As a side note, did you know poppy seeds can actually make you fail a urine drug screen at work if you eat too many ? Onion flakes all the way. Haha.
