Korean Ground Beef and Rice Bowls

Korean Ground Beef and Rice Bowls

This right here is my boys favorite weeknight meal. They beg me to make it every week. Since we have been so busy with Lacrosse we have been having it every week. It requires minimal ingredients and requires little effort to make.

Easy, minimal ingredients, and my kids devour it. This meal became my new BFF.

The ground beef takes only minutes to brown but you still get that delicious Korean flavor in this meal. The brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger combination is the best.

It helps take the flavor to next level with the simple kitchen ingredients. The best part is that because we love Asian flavors so much I always have these ingredients on hand. All I have to do is buy a pound of ground beef each week.

You guys are going to love this meal just as much as we do! It is so delicious when served over rice and I even like to add some veggies to my bowl to make it a well rounded meal.

Sprinkle with some sesame seeds and freshly chopped green onions and you have about the easiest meal that you will ever make! You will make this again and again!

I guess I am really not a big ground beef person. I couldn’t taste much of the sauce, just the beef. Maybe is there was more sauce and thickened with cornstarch it might have more taste.

    1. I just had the same experience! I actually doubled the sauce but still only cooked 1 lb of ground beef, so that didnโ€™t seem to make any difference. Maybe youโ€™re onto something with the cornstarch idea…

If I could give this more stars I would. It’s super yummy. My son and I are picky. I didn’t think I’d like it at all. All 4 of us – 2 sons and my husband and I – love it!

I’ve made it several times. Twice this week alone because I don’t have time to make what I had planned tonight and this takes 5 minutes.

I use prefried, rinsed and frozen ground beef. I run hot water over it to thaw, then put it in the skillet with a tiny bit of water and the garlic and boil them together for a few minutes. The first time I fried the garlic with the ground beef, but I like to have tons of ground beef already browned and frozen so I did it this way for the last few times and it works fine. Add the sauce and warm it up. The minute rice takes longer than the beef lol.

I love that I don’t have to remember to buy any ingredients – all of them can be stored in the pantry or freezer since I don’t bother with the green onions on top.

I made this during lockdown because I had stocked up on a ton of ground beef and searched for recipes to use it up. I needed ideas because my 2 adult sons were both home with us.

Just wanted to let you know it’s one of our new favorites! I want to try it with splenda since I usually make savory dishes that have brown sugar in them with splenda instead, but we enjoy this too much to mess with it. If I made it and it didn’t turn out great after promising it to my family, they might turn on me!

This was absolutely a hit in my house!!! We loved it. My 8 year old gobbled it up. We will definitely make this again. Thank you for such an ready quick and delicious recipe!

  4. This was really good! Used less sugar and double ginger, and stir fried sugar snap peas and scallions with it, but the husband said “Restaurant quality!” So it’s going in the regular rotation. Great recipe!

I loved the recipe! My kids ate it without complaint – usually it’s my younger son that grouches about everything. My husband (who is Asian and Hawaiian) actually ate it without complaints too. I added two packages of ready to steam broccoli and carrots from the produce aisle because I didn’t have enough ingredients to double the sauce. I’ve made other Korean burger recipes, but this is the first to call for sesame oil and that pushed it over the top. This is definitely a keeper ๐Ÿ™‚

I was skeptical because it seemed to simple, but decided to try it because of 5he reviews. It was wonderful! A keeper recipe!

  7. I found this recipe when a cattle rancher client gifted me some beef. I havenโ€™t purchased ground beef in years And wasnโ€™t sure what to do with it. I generally make this exactly as written. Itโ€™s perfect. Meal preps really well to as I am cooking for one.

So easy & delicious! I made it exactly as directed. Served over jasmine rice. I could see this being easy switched to ground Turkey if you’re looking for a lean meat version. But it was great with the beef!
