The Best Homemade Alfredo Sauce Ever!

I just had to post my favorite alfredo recipe that I have created here on the blog.   There are a few secret ingredients that set it apart from all of the rest.  If there is one thing I can always count on my family to eat it is my homemade alfredo sauce over pasta.  We recently had some company over for dinner and I made these Chicken Bacon Garlic Alfredo Roll Ups and they always are a huge hit!

This alfredo sauce is thick and creamy and the flavor is out of the world.  It is restaurant quality that you can make right at home.  It has delicious garlic flavor and italian seasonings.  I like to add cream cheese to my alfredo for that extra creamy flavor and texture.  This alfredo sauce always gets raved about whenever I make it!


This alfredo sauce comes together pretty easily and you will never go back to the jarred alfredo sauce again!  Ick!  This alfredo sauce is awesome on top of just about any pasta but is also delicious used as a dip or even spread on pizza.


I think this sauce is even better than any restaurant that I have been to and the best part is that you can make it yourself!   It is thick, creamy, and rich and the perfect sauce on top of your favorite pasta.

I know that you will quickly agree that this is the BEST!  This will be a recipe that you make again and again, just like I do!


The Best Homemade Alfredo Sauce Ever!

  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream 2 cups
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • ½ teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese


  1. In a medium saucepan add butter, heavy whipping cream, and cream cheese. Cook over medium heat and whisk until melted.  

  2. Add the minced garlic, garlic powder, italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Continue to whisk until smooth. Add the grated parmesan cheese.

  3. Bring to a simmer and continue to cook for about 3-5 minutes or until it starts to thicken. Toss it with your favorite pasta!

    Made this sauce and put it on half a spaghetti squash with marinaded chicken breast, my husband said it was better than any regular fettuccine Alfredo!

      Just made this and ohmygosh, it’s SO GOOD! Whole family of seven loved it. Our it over noodles for the kids and roasted broccoli for my husband and it was delicious! The cream cheese is key!

          Dont usually comment on these things, but this recipe is a huge win! Work at a nursing, quadrupled the recipe for 28 people. It is amazing! A+

        1. I usually have to double it since I have 2 growing boys and my hubby. My girls and I are normal and eat a smaller portion. lol. I also like to have a little left over for the next day to add something to lunches. Hope that helps! For 7 you could feed enough with out doubling it. I just like to be safe and my family lathers the sauce on.

    1. It helps to heat your heavy cream in the microwave for 90 seconds- if you combine ingredients at similar temperatures they will combine rather than separate from the butter

    1. I used the half and half but used 3/4 of a pint and it was absolutely delicious!!! Great recipe !!! I tried it again and added mushrooms on penne noodles. I was told that my pasta is better than the great Italian restaurants we have here. Thanks once again !!

    It was amazing and super easy! I used low fat cream cheese, and fresh parmesan…so rich and creamy!!! I probably don’t want to know, but do you have the nutritional value for this sauce?

  3. Canned sauce will never be worth the convenience after you taste this! Best sauce I have ever tried. I used good quality Parmesan too which I feel made it even better. I used Bella Rosa. Delish!

I wanted to know that if you make this for a large crowd (6 times the recipe), if you could put all the butter, cream cheese, seasonings, and two to four cups of heavy cream and cook this all together and then add the remaining cups of heavy cream as well as Parmesan into a crock pot to finishing blending and cooking everything….Thanks…

    Just made this sauce for a chicken and fresh spinach lasagna that I’m making. Holy cow is it ever fantastic! Wow! I made a few changes. I doubled the cream cheese and garlic and added some mozzarella cheese too. Thank you for this recipe!

    This recipe was very easy to make and delicious. I’ve been looking for a homemade recipe because you just don’t know what’s in the store bought. I doubled the ingredients for one pound of fettucine – the remainder of the sauce I froze for another dinner. It freezes well – it tasted like I had just made it.

    This is my favorite recipe and literally the best Alfredo I have ever had. Anytime I host a function this sauce is my go to. I put it over linguine, I pour it on top of salmon and shrimp and even use it to make pizza. It’s quick, easy and delicious.

    I have made this recipe MANY times!! It is a huge crowd pleaser! No improvements necessary. I have made it with half n half…out of sheer desperation…it worked… A little thinner but it worked. This is a wonderful recipe to put in your arsenal. I absolutely recommend it!

    This sauce is delicious! Glad I decided to make it. Heating it up for leftovers without oil & butter separating is a big plus! The only thing I changed was I added milk to keep it from getting to thick.

  16. Haven’t tried this yet, because I have a question: In the recipe I’m unsure about the amount of butter. Do you mean melted butter (ie. liquid) or solid butter?

    We made this tonight, used half n half and whole milk because I didn’t have heavy cream. It was still nice and thick and oh so delicious! The addition of Italian seasoning was what made it much better than any other alfredo sauce recipe I’ve tried. Thank you for sharing

  23. I made this last night for myself and the guys in my firehouse. It was delicious!! I tripled it, and it came out great! I used fresh Italian parsley instead of Italian seasoning I added a little onion powder as well. It was perfect! Super creamy. I added steamed broccoli and put grilled chicken on top.     This is the best alfredo sauce i’ve ever made from scratch. The only thing I change is the amount of butter. i’ve made it with half and it still comes out amazing.
