Creamy Garlic Steak Bites with Mushrooms

Holy yum! This meal was devoured by the family. Is there anything better than melt in your mouth steak bites coated in a creamy garlic herb sauce with mushrooms!? I really don’t think so. Since school is back in session, I have been trying to come up with dinner ideas that are quick and easy. Since my family is all steak lovers, I decided to make this quick meal in the skillet. The family couldn’t seem to get enough of the creamy sauce and the tender steak bites. We served it over rice and served it with some veggies on the side. Easy peasy!

How do you make Creamy Garlic Steak Bites?

  • To start, cut your sirloin steak into one inch cubes. Add 1 Tablespoon of olive oil to a medium sized skillet over medium high heat. Salt and pepper the steak bites and add them to the pan cooking them until they are golden brown.
  • Remove the steak and set it aside on a plate. Add the mushrooms and garlic to the pan and saute until tender. Add in the heavy cream, shredded parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper. Add the steak back to the pan and allow to heat through and sauce to thicken.
  • Serve over rice or pasta and garnish with chopped parsley.

What other kind of steak can I use in this recipe?

You can also substitute with a tenderloin, sirloin, or New York strip steak.

OMG! I had so many bites that tasted like pizza! We have pizza once a week at our house, and if this could satisfy my craving I’d be saving so many calories!! Thank you. My whole family loved it.

  2. Can I sub the powdered Parmesan? I know it won’t be the same but I don’t want to go to the store with two toddlers. ? Any advice?

  3. So this was great. I did add an orange pepper because…. well, it was there. I had to thicken last second with cornstarch. Next time I will use ribeye instead of sirloin. My husband is known for smacking the table when the food is great and this one got a table smack. 🙂

    Hello Alyssa,
I made it keto friendly by serving it over mashed cauliflower instead of rice. Tasted great. Now I have to figure the fat, carbs and protein per serving.
    Thank you,

I made this in an instant pot. I browned the meat on sauté in the pot, then removed the meat added the garlic sautéed for about a minute, added a cup of water with a heavy teaspoon of beef of better than boullion, deglazed the bottom of the pot, added meat back to pot, pressure cooked on high for 20 minutes with a 10 min natural release. While that was going I sautéed the mushrooms in some butter. Once the meat is done I set it back on sauté, added cream, cheese, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper, added mushrooms. Stirred until cheese was melted. While that was going I mixed a Tbsp of cornstarch and Tbsp of water together then added to the pot. Stir until combined and thickened. I served mine over rice with parm garlic Brussels. Very good, the meat is so tender and falls apart in your mouth. I hope that helps!

I made this last night. Delicious! I did add a little Cajun seasoning for warmth (and because I’m hooked on the stuff). Thank you!

You can hardly ever go wrong with simply adding even more garlic! Especially if it’s roasted garlic, in clove or paste form. I will typically roast 6 or 8 whole heads of garlic at once, then keep in airtight container in fridge to use as I go. Also, when not in the mood for mushrooms, it’s equally flavorful, in another way, to saute up some onion or shallots instead. Great recipes, wonderful website/blog! ~Samantha in NM
