Creamy Parmesan Garlic Mushroom Chicken

Can I get a hallelujah for air conditioning? Our air conditioning went out in the place where we are living now and of course it is the week before the big move. As if packing and getting ready to move isn’t torture enough, I have had to do it in 85 degrees. Gah! It took 3 days for them to get it replaced and working properly. And today is the first day that it is working. You better believe I have that baby cranked down to 68. 😉

Since life is crazy busy I still realize that my kids need to eat. You can only order Little Caesars so much and eat out before you are sick of it. My kids LOVE when I take the time to cook a good meal.

Skillet meals are our favorite lately. They are ready in just 30 minutes and they taste like they are from a restaurant.

And you guys.

This Creamy Parmesan Garlic Sauce is ON POINT! It will be one of the best sauces that you will ever make!

My son said this is one of the best things he has ever eaten! I think my son is my biggest fan of my cooking. My other one is unpredictable and pretty picky but he LOVED this meal as well. Of course, he had to scrape the mushrooms and spinach off but said it was amazing.

I promise that you guys are going to love this meal just as much as we did! I have been perfecting this creamy sauce for so long and it is literally amazing. All of my chicken skillet dishes have been getting such rave reviews I know that you are going to love this one too!

  1. My family loved this recipe! My kids said they would buy it in a restaurant if they had money of their own lol. Adding to our favorites. Thank you for sharing!

  2. I made this exactly as written and it was soooo good! Flavorful and creamy. This makes a lot of sauce so definitely good for putting over pasta. I used frozen spinach & just cooked it first.

  3. My husband too has said he would order this at a restaurant. We absolutely love it and added this recipe to our dinner rotation several months ago. Thank you!

  4. Wow! This recipe is so good. I first ate pasta cooked like this at a certain hotel and couldn’t get over it. I planned to take my whole family to the hotel for dinner so they could taste it. But thanks to you, I’ll save my money. My family is all over me and praising me!

    Thank you so so much!

  5. I made a huge batch of this for out of town guest. Everyone was in love with it. They still mention it and that was a year ago. Making it tonight for just us. I made homemade garlic parmesan mashed potatoes, and put the sauce over the potatoes. It really set it off!!!

  6. My family loves this dish. Even the kids can’t get enough. We have it over pasta or rice. Just depends on what kind of mood we are in.

  7. I have made this a number of times and everyone loves it !! I’ll be making it again for my brother who is a chef… no doubt he will love it too. thanks for sharing 🙂

I have prepared this twice already and it was requested by my son for a third! It’s a wonderful feeling that my family would rather have me prepare a meal than go out for dinner.

This has become my husband’s favorite meal! He’s a tough critic so that is a HUGE compliment. I was leery about using canned parmesan for this but it works great. I used Kraft Parmesan and baby bella mushrooms. Also I added fresh basil which I think brought it to the next level. Thank you for such a great recipe!!

So, made this last night and served over spaghetti pasta. My boyfriend said, “I’m going to need you to make this again in the future.” Which he had never done! He loves my cooking but this blew his mind! My 4 year old son loved the sauce and he is so picky! Definitely making this again.

    1. I know I re-read it twice. I’m on a low fat diet for health reasons. In moderation I can have a heavy meal so to speak, but wow! This is triple heavy. But looks so good! I wonder if a few ingredients can be tweaked to lower the total fat?

  11. This was amazing! At first I was afraid it would be a bit *too* creamy for my taste, but it was perfect! My family loved it too. Definitely gonna save this link and make it in the future.

Btw, I believe the nutrition calculations are off.

Excellent. Our family loves this recipe. The only thing we do different is double the sauce. That way we have plenty because the sauce is awesome.

  13. 5 stars
Holy Cow! I made this for my family and there were no leftovers at all!!!!! My husband mopped up the remaining sauce with a piece of bread! Definite homerun!!!

  14. Wow! I went cheep on the ingredients and used the dry powdered parmesan cheese I used can mushrooms. Still it was wonderful!!!! 13 yr old son and husband both gobbled it up.

  15. Has anyone tried this with whole thighs? I loathe boneless, skinless chicken of any type! I think the sauce sounds amazing with such rave reviews so I will adapt this to suit my favorite type of chicken. Thanks for the recipe!

  16. 5 stars
I altered the recipe a bit to suit ingredients on hand. Subbed frozen peas for the spinach. I had some leftover basmati rice and used that instead of pasta. I used chunks of chicken tenders instead of slicing breasts. We really liked it. Will definitely make again and probably serve to guests.

  17. This was absolutely delicious! I saw that a lot of people were making it with pasta which would be great, but I decided to make it with mashed potatoes and we loved it! Your recipes are fantastic. Thank you! ?

This has been in our rotation for over a year. We use freshly grated Parmesan. We’ve tried both heavy cream and half n half and they both turn out delicious. Guests rave about the restaurant quality. Great served over rice, pasta (we love orzo), or potatoes. I’m going to try doubling the sauce because that’s our favorite part.

10/30/2019 – This recipe did not disappoint. My husband and I loved it. I made the recipe as shown, but with 2 large chicken breasts instead of 4 and it served us two nights in a row! Leftovers were just as delicious. I will make it again. The only thing that alarms me is the Nutrition Facts…are those numbers accurate? If so, is there any way of cutting back on the calories, fat, sodium?

I make this recipe frequently for my family who love it and want to make this for a large party of 20 for Christmas Eve but want to prepare it a day ahead. Can I cook the chicken, make the sauce and combine in a pan and cool and just reheat to serve the next day or will the sauce break if it is reheated with the chicken? Thanks for any help on this. Any advice on day ahead prep would be great.

I never leave reviews but omg was this delicious!! The only thing I altered was I deglazed my pan with a little white wine when I was cooking the mushrooms, only because I had a ton of stuck bits. I did use 8 chicken breasts and although there is still plenty of sauce, I would double it next time because it’s that good! Thank you for a different and fantastic chicken recipe!

It turned out looking just like the picture. This was such an easy meal to make. The sauce was so delicious and tasty. The mushrooms were a great idea. My boyfriend said this was his favorite meal to date that I’ve cooked! I already can’t wait to eat this again. We made mashed potatoes and put the whole meal over it. Plates were licked last night!

  22. 5 stars
This was so good!!! I have made several similar recipes lately that have underwhelmed me but this one is special! I could eat that sauce on mashed potatoes forever. This will not be a frequent dinner because of the butter/cream but for a special dinner or company, it’s a win.

  23. 5 stars
This was delicious! I didn’t have heavy whipping cream so I used water and half a pack of cream cheese and it was still nice and creamy!

  24. Insanely simple and easy to make. I made 4 times the sauce so i had extra to use as a pasta sauce for later this week. I also put red onion and extra garlic gloves in, and about a tablespoon of garlic powder. It is so good and really quick I will definitely be keeping this recipe for the recipe box.

  25. This is always a HUGE hit whenever I make it. Most often it is to impress a date. Just be careful because then they want you to cook like this ALL the time. I altered a few things and thought I might share…..I diced the chicken, added bow-tie pasta, real bacon (not bacon bits), sautéed sweet onion and sun dried tomatoes (this is a MUST!!!!). Mix it all together, pair it with a white wine or my fav, sparkling Mascoto and it is its own one pan meal. Soooo good!

  26. Omg, I have made this a few times and it is delish!!! I would like to make it ahead of time to take on our ski trip….can it be frozen?

  27. just looking at the picture of the dish makes me hungry! great reviews and this is what I’m making 2moro for dinner for my niece and her kids, coming over for some holiday bonding! happy holidays! thank you so much for sharing your recipes…I always come on here to look for new ideas on adding more ideas into my cooking…cheers to 2020!

Being dairy free, I replaced the butter with Earth Balance spread and the cream with coconut cream. Absolutely delicious! It became our new favorite after just the first bite.

One of my FAVORITE recipes and it comes out great every time! I make this at least once a month because it’s so delicious. I usually serve with mashed potatoes to soak up the extra sauce which is DELISH. Highly recommend to anyone who loves mushrooms, garlic, and a creamy parmesan sauce. Mmmmm!

My hubby and I made this together today for our first time. Yummy! A couple things; first of all, I would add more fresh spinach, more mushrooms and maybe a little dab more sauce for some extra noodles.
Our first batch of butter, garlic and flour didn’t thicken and had to start over? Weird. Second time I used a hair less butter and it came out perfect.
It’s a very rich dish, so there’s lots of leftovers, which I’m looking forward to!

This was so quick…and so delicious! Any meal I can prepare with 4 yr old twin grandsons is good….but I will say this was amazing!!!

I made this when my daughter sent it to me with a request. This recipe was easy to follow and was loved by my family. I doubled the spinach and served over spaghetti.
