Our lives have been revolving around cross country and lacrosse at our house. They both have practice twice during the week and then we have games all day on Saturday. Yesterday was our last game and I feel so much more freedom! Having kids involved in busy sports can be tough. This is why I love to still have a hearty meal for my family and soup is the perfect thing!

Since I am obsessed with all things tuscan garlic… (seriously you have got to try this Creamy Tuscan Garlic Chicken), I knew that a soup version of this popular dish had to be made.

This soup you guys. Turned out INCREDIBLE!!

You are going to love how quick and easy this soup is to make! You will love the creamy soup base and everything inside is so delicious. Tortellini, chicken, diced tomatoes, spinach, and white beans. It all comes together perfectly and it is SO delicious!

This became an instant favorite in our house. And quite honestly one of the best soups that I have ever had! I know that your family will love it too!

Creamy Tuscan Garlic Tortellini Soup

Creamy Tuscan Garlic Tortellini Soup is so easy to make and one of the best soups that you will make! Tortellini, diced tomatoes spinach and white beans are hidden is the most creamy and delicious soup that your family will love!

  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 small white onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 28 ounce can diced tomatoes
  • 1 15 ounce can white beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tablespoon italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups cooked and shredded chicken I used rotisserie
  • 9 ounce refrigerated tortellini
  • 2 cups spinach


  • In a large pot over medium heat, heat up the butter. Add onion and garlic and cook until tender. Add chicken broth, diced tomatoes, white beans, heavy cream, parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  • Add the chicken, tortellini, and spinach. Let simmer for 10 minutes to thicken up and for the tortellini to cook.

  1. I made the Creamy Tuscan Garlic Tortellini soup last night -it was a HUGE hit. I made a couple changes: 1. I prefer to use pre-cooked/shredded chicken. It makes a clearer/finer broth. 2. I cheaped out on the tortellini – don’t do that!!! I will make it again and with a high quality tortellini.

  3. Do the ingredients call for 1, 15oz can of beans, or 115oz can, of beans? It seems like a lot of beans, someone help. I don’t cook much haha

  4. If I wanted to use less tomatoes would that alter the flavor and overall dish? I’m only serving 4 and wanted to cut down on the amount but don’t want to alter the flavor by doing that.

  8. This is so yummy and so easy!!!!! I used crushed tomatoes instead of diced to appease the hubby, but everything else is perfect.

  9. I made this tonight and it came out delicious. I eyeballed some ingredients like the seasoning/spinach and I used a little over a lb of chicken that I made in the crockpot earlier. I’m sure you could add a bigger package of tortellini, but it came out great with a 9 oz package (I used buitoni – spinach with cheese). Not difficult to make and didn’t take too much prep or a super long list of ingredients which I loved. Yum!

  10. I really liked this recipe and so did my husband. I also added some flour to the onions and garlic to help thicken it up as others had suggested. I also added some extra spinach and tortellini and it worked really well. The only thing that I didn’t like was the amount of italian seasoning. I thought a tablespoon was just too much, I’ll be adjusting that for the next time.

  12. I made this soup tonight and was skeptical as I was making it but it turned out delicious!!. I added more garlic and spinach and chicken. I can’t stress enough how some people’s recipes are horrible but this one gets a five star in my eyes. Thank you so much for sharing.
