Fajita Seasoning Ingredients

- Finally, adjust the spice levels by changing up the cayenne, sugar, or salt to suit your preferences.
- To Thicken Up: Add 1–2 tsp of cornstarch to your spice mix. Stir it in first so it won’t clump when it hits the meat.
How to Make Fajita Seasoning
Whether you’re making up sizzling fajitas or looking to spice up tacos, grilled veggies, or even scrambled eggs. This homemade fajita seasoning has you covered. Here’s how to make it!
- First, add all ingredients: In a small bowl, combine the chili powder, paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, sugar, and cayenne pepper.
- Then, mix well: Use a small whisk or spoon to blend everything together. Use about 2 tablespoons of fajita seasoning per pound of meat. Or use 2½ to 3 tablespoons to match one store bought fajita seasoning packet

What is The Different Between Taco & Fajita Mix
- Taco vs. Fajita Spice: Taco seasoning has more heat and bold herbs. Fajita seasoning leans more on cumin. For that fresh pop you get from the store, add a squeeze of lime on top right before you serve.

Came back to bookmark this one!!
Lovely seasoning mix. I made tonight and hubby loved it. I omitted the sugar and cut salt in half. Just as good. And, no msg as in many of the prepackaged season mixes. Thank you!
Love it. Use this recipe all the time.
I made this recipe but made it just as good and more healthy. Many people should NOT have much salt or sugar in their diet. I omitted the sugar and Salt. Tastes just as good (!I made both to check).
It cuts the sodium and fat, though it was not much to begin with, really no need to add fat or sodium. I used it on Veggies Fajitas, meatless, and served in fresh homemade corn tortillas, it was outstanding.
I know most people have way to much sugar, salt and yes, meat in their diets and eventually find themselves with heart and artery problems. This is a great way to enjoy fajitas without worrying.
I absolutely loved your seasoning mix! So much better than the packaged mixes! My husband raved how good my fajitas tasted! Will always go by your recipe!
Hi,
Thanks for your recipe.
What’s the difference between chili powder and cayenne?
Cayenne is MUCH hotter than chili powder!
Cayenne is just ground, dried cayenne peppers. Chili powder is mixture of spices. Be sure to read the label to know what is in your chili powder. Or make your own, even better.
I just ran across your recipe and it sounds wonderful. I have a question and a comment.
Would you recommend regular paprika or smoked paprika?
Most fajita seasonings I have seen have a bit of citrus in them.
As luck would have it I have a box of little envelopes of lime juice powder.
I think this will be perfect to add as it is a dry ingredient and will not affect storage of this recipe.
I used regular paprika but you could use smoked. It would bring a different flavor to the seasoning. I have never tried adding in lime juice powder. Let me know how it turns out!
I loved the recipe but thought it needed a bit of lime so I squeezed the juice from one into it. I also added some water to really get the spices distributed on the chicken. I will make this again.
Found this recipe and it’s my go to when cooking. I would absolutely recommend.
Beyond fantastic! My entire family loved it including my very picky pre-teen! Not too spicy either. The perfect blend! I’ll definitely be using this recipe again!
I know the recipe is a winner when kids and teenagers love it! Thanks for trying it!
Perfect balance. This is a keeper! Thank you!
My husband can’t eat garlic, so much of our seasonings are from scratch. When I’m making chicken fajitas with 2 tbls. Of fajita meaning do I also add water?
You do not need to add water.
I love your recipes. I wish I could give more than 5 stars ⭐️
I love making food from scratch. I’ve tried many recipes but your recipe was exactly what I was looking for!!
I will never buy pages from the store.
Thank you for sharing.
Went to make fajitas & didn’t have the packaged mix, found your site, I tried your recipe, I will never go back to store bought again. I love being able to control the amount of salt in my seasonings, & for my husband, when he likes things spicier, he can always just add more to his.
Great recipe, definately a keeper.
Great recipe! Great storage idea. My grocery was out of the package stuff. Thanks
Love all your recipes, thanks for sharing
