Grilled Honey Lime Cilantro Chicken

Honey + Lime + Cilantro = one of my favorite flavor combinations.  Something about the sweet honey and tangy lime plus the cilantro infuses this chicken with such amazing flavor.   I love cilantro!  It is one of my favorite herbs to cook and garnish with.

This marinade comes together quickly and I love to marinade for a few hours so the chicken can soak up the delicious flavor.  I am seriously all about the quick and easy BBQ dishes lately.

Since the weeks are starting to get so busy and school is almost over this chicken was a delicious meal that my entire family loved.  After a busy day we love to just spend time in the backyard while we BBQ.  It was fun to enjoy the sun after a long week of rain.

I always call a meal a success when the entire family including the picky eater devours it.  We all loved this chicken so much and the flavor is awesome!

Definitely grill it up this summer with your family!  You will not regret it!

Perfectly grilled tender and juicy chicken marinated in a honey lime cilantro marinade. The flavor of this chicken is incredible!
Serves: 4-6
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, or thighs
  • ¼ cup lime juice
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  1. Put chicken in a ziplock bag. In a small bowl combine lime juice, honey, soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, cilantro, salt and pepper. Pour the sauce over the chicken and seal the bag and let marinade for 3 hours or overnight.
  2. Preheat your grill to medium high heat. Grill each side of the chicken for about 3-4 minutes or until cooked throughout and no longer pink.

  1. Holy cow that looks incredible! Pinned and trying!

  2. I will be making this when we drag the grill out for the summer! Thanks

    • I’m going to try this soon. We have a Staub stovetop grill pan that should keep me from having to wait until summer. I did some flanked-cut ribs on it–grill marks and everything. The trick is to let it get hot and have olive oil over it all. The trick is to use a silicon barbecue/pastry brush to make sure EVERY inch has oil on it, in all the nooks.

  3. Is there any nutritional information for this recipe? Thanks!

Didn’t have cilantro on hand, but made it anyway and the flavor was amazing! Great recipe and definitely bookmarking for future use 🙂

  5. It was a quick and easy meal! Hubby and I also made the Thai Barbeque Chicken:

I used bone-in, skin on thighs and they turned out quite juicy.

They were not as dark as yours. I used a Japanese soy sauce, maybe I should have used a dark soy sauce?

I also found the flavour a bit light. They were only marinated for 3 hours, but maybe it would have a stronger flavour if I left them overnight.

All in all a solid recipe I’m happy to make again.

  6. Tried this last night and it turned out really well! We added the zest of two limes in the marinade and it really made the flavour stand out! Also threw in a bit of spicy chili oil to offset the sweetness – SO GOOD!

  7. We tried this recipe and everybody loved it! Thank you!

I tried this recipe for dinner the other day and it was a big hit! I am a vegetarian but my husband and daughter are not, so I used chicken for theirs and organic extra-firm tofu for mine and it worked out perfectly! I will definitely be making this again.

    • WOW! That is awesome! Thank you for sharing!! I am so glad you loved it and you were able to adapt it to your liking!! Thank you for sharing!!
